Overview

Art Basel is fast approaching, and we're thrilled to once again join our friend Francis Mercier and his special guests for another Deep Root Tribe party at the iconic Toe Jam Backlot on Friday, December 6th!

This year's Deep Root Tribe party promises to be an unforgettable night for afro house fans. Led by Francis Mercier, a Haitian-born artist, the event will feature a unique fusion of afro and tribal beats, bringing together global sounds. As a pioneer of afro house through his label, Mercier has left an indelible mark on the genre, making this event one of the highlights of the music-filled week.

Francis Mercier is dedicated to uniting sounds and artists from across the globe. His work with Deep Root Records has garnered attention from Forbes, Billboard, DJ Mag, and Meta for Business. With a career that includes hitting #2 on Beatport’s Top 10 overall and Best Selling charts, Mercier's music enjoys regular airplay on stations like Tomorrowland One Radio, Diplo’s Revolution on SiriusXM, Radio FG, and BBC Radio 1.

Mercier has also worked with major labels like Sony, Columbia, Universal, Tomorrowland, Mad Decent, Higher Ground, Insomniac, Armada, and Realm Records. His collaborations include well-known acts like Diplo, Major Lazer, Gorgon City, BLOND:ISH, Magic System, Amadou & Mariam, Roland Clark, and Black Uhuru. His music has garnered support from prominent names in the industry such as Black Coffee, Vintage Culture, Pablo Fierro, Keinemusik, Rüfüs Du Sol, and Claptone, and has been licensed by international brands including Disney, Porsche, IBM, Snapchat, Netflix, and the UFC.

Francis Mercier has made waves with standout tracks like "Sete," in collaboration with BLOND:ISH, and "Kamili" on Diplo’s Higher Ground, which blend dance music with ethnic sounds and feature the powerful Swahili vocals of Kenyan percussionist Idd Aziz. Starting his career inspired by an Armin van Buuren show, Mercier has risen from playing college parties to performing at top venues worldwide. His collaborations with industry giants and his work through Deep Root Records have become a staple in afro house music, while continuing to nurture new talent.
