Groove Cruise Miami
Miami, Florida
Overview
As interconnected culture continues wrapping humanity up in technology with ever-increasing rapidity, we increasingly seek wholly unique vacation experiences as an escape from the everyday. For global dance music fans, destination music festivals with finely honed immersive environments now rule this vacation escapism market. And what better way to immerse yourself in a spectacular escape from reality than a cruise ship sailing through a sun-soaked Caribbean paradise?
Enter Groove Cruise Miami.
This edition marks the 35th ship to sail under the Groove Cruise banner in over 19 years of operations. Considering the lineup alone, it’sit’s not surprising they’re all sold out.
This Is MTK
For starters, there there’s Claptone. The German enigma of a global house music master will rinse his unmistakably slinky, supremely textured house grooves over the Caribbean’s sapphire blue open seas. Also featuring is Gray Area mainstay Cloonee, the UK based tech-house tastemaker who’s been on a worldwide rampage across dance floors lately.
South African-born Swiss-based muse of melodic, organic deep house Nora En Pure will play a special beachside set when the ship docks on Saturday at Labadee’s private paradise.
Also on the lineup are Chicago house legend Gene Farris and Incorrect Music label boss Anthony Attala. Across the grittier side of four to the floor, LA-based tech-house warrior Kyle Walker and Croatian dance floor demolisher Matroda are sure to make their presence known on deck, along with the pulsating techno-with-electro-edge stylings of Speaker Honey.
For forward-thinking techno, look no further than Italian duo Gioli & Assia’s melodically gorgeous organic grooves and Dallas-bred Declan James’s cacophonous underground techno-wizardry.
For the more wonkily attuned don’t miss Jauz’s Off The Deep End takeover. G House pioneer Bijou and French bass house artist Habstrakt will make waves amongst the bass-inclined crowd. And trance legend Markus Schultz is on tap as well.
y.s.a.
Yes, DJs play during their time slots on the stages. But they’ll also throw down in attendee quarters, hallways, and elevators shipwide. Everywhere you look, there there’s a party going down. With 40 different artist-hosted activities, including a poker tournament with EDX, Battles of the Paddles table tennis tournament with Matroda, and dodgeball with Bijou, sailors will have plenty to keep busy.
There’sThere’s more highbrow affair — hosted excursions and dinners with artists. Think sushi dinner with Anthony Attala, wine tasting with Marcus Shultz, or projection-mapped French fine dining with Speaker Honey and Autograf.
As for the aesthetic?
There will be themed costume parties galore and three drag shows — including the first-ever Groove Cruise Drag Brunch.
There will also be very few clothes, the world’s largest zip line over water, and a rollercoaster that passes through the mountains.
Perhaps more importantly, there will be community wellness events, mental health talks, and workshops, including The Power of Journaling with Josh Donaldson and Speaker Honey. In addition, groove Cruise has partnered with When The Music Stops to host community wellness events with renewed focus this year.
At its core, Groove Cruise’sCruise’s mission statement is “to create world-class festival experiences for lovers of dance music as a way to connect and celebrate life on the open ocean.”
Considering the robust musical offerings, enchanting tropical settings, and world-class standard of community and hospitality Groove Cruise is known for, it’s hard to imagine Groove Cruise Miami missing that admittedly lofty mission statement.
Anchors away, Captains.
