Overview
On September 21st, Tech Afrique takes over the rooftop of Superior Ingredients for a night of Afro-centric electronic music led by founder Eli Fola and featuring special guests William Djoko and Floyd Lavine. Established in 2016, Tech Afrique is a boutique creative studio, record label, and event platform focused on amplifying AfroHouse, techno, Amapiano, and other global sounds while providing a platform for underrepresented BIPOC artists.
Eli Fola, a pioneer in the Afro House scene, is celebrated for creating Yoruba Tech Soul, a fusion of AfroHouse, techno, jazz, and classical music. Known for his commanding live sets, often accompanied by live saxophone, Eli has performed at major cultural events like Art Basel and Burning Man and shared the stage with global icons such as Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, ASAP Rocky, Busta Rhymes, Black Coffee, Pablo Fierro, and Audiofly. His performances explore the roots and future of Afro-centric sounds, resonating with diverse audiences worldwide.
Joining the lineup, William Djoko is an Amsterdam-based DJ, producer, and label owner recognized for his genre-blending style that mixes groove-heavy house with rugged Detroit techno and playful percussive elements. His productions have landed on respected labels such as Rush Hour, Voyage Direct, Tuskegee, Strictly Rhythm, and Desolat, where his collaboration âOut of Reachâ with Loco Dice was featured on Diceâs Love Letters album. Djokoâs global presence spans top clubs and festivals like DC10, fabric, Printworks, Dekmantel, Junction 2, and Oasis Festival. He holds residencies with LWE in London â where he launched Williamâs Wonderful Weekend â and Shelter in Amsterdam, and maintains a longtime role with Circoloco, playing regularly at DC10 and Circoloco events worldwide, including in Tulum, Barcelona, and Paris during Paris Fashion Week.
Also taking the stage is Floyd Lavine, the self-described âAfrican Nomadâ whose passion for electronic music is shaped by his African roots. Floyd crafts grooves inspired by the African soul, blending Afro, techno, and disco across his sets. Known for taking listeners on a sonic journey filled with energy and connection, he has played some of the worldâs top festivals and dancefloors, with features on platforms like BBC Music, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Vogue Italia, and Beatport. His releases and remixes on acclaimed labels like Innervisions and Ninja Tune include reworks for artists such as Kerri Chandler and Coldcut.
Beyond the music, Tech Afrique has collaborated with brands like Dr. Martens and Chanel, blending music, visual art, and fashion to amplify Afro-futuristic ideas and global BIPOC talent. Tech Afriqueâs events are known for combining top-tier artistry with cultural storytelling, creating an experience where music, community, and creativity intersect.
