Can you describe your first experience with electronic music and how it influenced your career?




I started DJing when I was 15 but was playing mostly commercial electronic music. The pivotal moment in my career was when I went to The Block in Tel Aviv and heard Rodhad play.

What inspired you to transition from playing in bands to producing electronic music?




It wasn't a transition; at the time, I was doing both. But at some point, I just started producing more and more electronic music, so I stopped playing in bands.




How does the music scene in Berlin compare to Tel Aviv?




Both are very good scenes. Berlin is more open in terms of music, sexuality, etc. The no-photo policy in Berlin makes a big difference.




Can you share a bit about the philosophy behind your label, Survival Tactics?




A platform for me to release electronic music that is not bounded or defined by genre.






What role do live performances play in your creative process?




Good live shows always give a lot of inspiration.





How do you approach creating a set for a new audience?




I always seek new music and sort my Rekordbox, but I never create/prepare a specific set. It's always improvisation.




What’s your favorite piece of gear or software in your studio right now?




Elektron Analog Rytm MKII.







How do you balance your time between producing music and running your label?




To be honest, I'm still learning as I go. It's tough, but I have a team that helps me with all the administrative stuff, so that takes a lot off my back.




Who are some up-and-coming artists you’re excited about right now?




Paul Roux, Skatman, Hard to Tell.





What do you enjoy most about the creative process?




Losing the feel of time and space while I'm in a creative state.

Now, as the head of his own label, "In 2 Deep," he aims to build a platform that truly celebrates original music and ideas. From Croydon, London, Stephen Galloway’s journey spans from open format DJing to becoming a respected producer and label owner. Welcome back to another Gray Area party, Stephen. It’s great to have you here again after our last event with you and Joshwa. Looking back over the past year, what has been the standout highlight of your career?

It's hard to really pinpoint any one moment from the past year. But if I pause and take a step back, I have to see the whole year as a highlight. I played so many great shows and met loads of new people. I spent the year growing and developing more as an artist.




Your last track, “One by One,” is different from the stuff you’ve put out before. How did you connect with Jalja, and how was it working with her?

Jalja's team contacted me because they loved my music, and they had the "One by One" vocal written and wanted to bring me into the project to see what I could make of it. You are right in pointing out that it's quite a different style for me. I went with more of an old-school deep house vibe, which was the sound that first got me into house music. Working with Jalja was a great experience. It was my first time working with an actual vocalist, and she's great. She's very talented, and you'll definitely start hearing more about her.




What do you find yourself obsessing about most in the studio or when working on a track?

I’ve kind of taught myself over the years not to obsess so much over small details. I'll set myself time blocks to work on certain things, like 30 minutes to write a cool bassline, and if after that 30 minutes I have nothing, I'll move on to a different part of the track and come back to that. This helps me not get caught up on one part for too long, obsessing over it. It also helps keep me in a creative workflow and not overthink things too much.




With the launch of your label, In 2 Deep, what are your long-term goals for the label?

The long-term goal for the label is to build a platform that really celebrates original music and original ideas. Giving upcoming and established acts the same chance of putting music out, regardless of how big of a following they have, just letting the music speak for itself. Hopefully, ending up with a few great hits on the label along the way. I remember how hard it was for myself being an upcoming artist, and labels caring more about my online presence than how good the music was. This is something I want to try and do differently.




What’s a lyric from one of your songs that fans scream to you or comment under your posts the most?

Haha, this would either have to be "Deeper Daddy" or "Party Diva."




Does any of your early material before the big stage days make you cringe?

I listen back to some old tracks and definitely cringe a little bit about how bad they sound or watch old interviews and think, "What the hell was I thinking?" But this is all part of the process. Having my whole career as an artist from day one available online shows people the hard work and dedication I have put in over the years to make my project successful. It also gives upcoming artists the proof that the music you may be making now might suck a little, but by sticking at it, things will improve. I need to also say that the process of becoming an established artist is the most fun part of this job, so having a timeline to see everything you've done over the years is great.




If you ever turn your upcoming label into a party/event brand, what is something you must have at your event to make it a kick-ass show?

Not a case of if but more of a case of when, haha. The most essential part of any show always has to be the sound! The sound system has to be bumping!! Lighting and everything is cool, but the foundation should always be a great sound system.




We know you’re a big soccer fan. Who is your favorite player?

That would have to be a young Argentinian player, Alejandro Garnacho, who plays for my team, Manchester United.




Name an artist, dead or alive, that you would want to hop on a track with. What would you ask them?

I would love to make a track with either Green Velvet, Chris Lake, or Jamie Jones. Production-wise, they are all unreal and are originators of their own sound and create great original music. I would definitely ask them all about how they maintained such long careers, but I think the answer to that is in the fact they are all original creators and have never really followed trends—they have set them.




We know your guilty pleasure is drum and bass. If you could create an alter ego to explore a sub-genre within DnB, which one would it be?

I actually already had an alias called “Signature,” which me and a friend created for fun and started making some liquid DnB, haha. This was a long time ago, and we sucked, so I stuck to house music, thankfully.




If a Saturday gig gets canceled, what do you do instead?

I'm chilling these days. Maybe go out for some food and do something wholesome. Unless there is a sick show on, but it would have to be something special.




If you could take a holiday and be able to reconnect with yourself spiritually, where would you go?

I really want to do this at some point this year and go somewhere that is off the beaten track, so to speak. It has a lot of nature and isn't developed. A jungle in Bali or something along these lines, just to reconnect and re-focus on what's important in life.




If you had to choose a completely different career path, what would it be and why?

I don't think that I could ever work in anything but music. I've had various jobs over the years, but music is my life, and I couldn't do anything else and still be happy doing it for the rest of my life. Plan B distracts from Plan A.




What’s the funniest or most surprising reaction you’ve ever received from a crowd during a set?

I had a whole crowd start cheering my name—like 1,000 people chanting "Deep-er Pur-pose." It was a really nice moment, so I played them one more track.




What is the definition of a true Party Diva?

I don't want to ruin it by sticking a definition on it from how I see it. People since I released it have all interpreted it in their own way, which is what I feel made that record so special. Everyone kind of had their own moment with the lyrics and came up with a meaning that was relevant to them.

Known for the double-platinum success of his breakout hit "ily (i love you baby)," which catapulted him into the spotlight, Surf has not only amassed billions of streams but also created a sound that resonates with a diverse audience.




Now based in Los Angeles, the young artist continues to evolve his style, drawing on a variety of influences that range from The Killers and Coldplay to dance music icons like Duke Dumont. His recent performances at high-profile venues such as Red Rocks and MGM Music Hall, along with his appearances at major festivals like Lollapalooza, underline his rising status in the industry.



In our exclusive interview, Surf Mesa discusses his process of cooking up heat in the studio, the impact of relocating to LA, how he got his stage name, and his responses to both fan admiration and critical acclaim. What was the moment you realized music was more than just a hobby for you?

In 6th grade, my school had something called recorder karate. You play a song and you earn a belt to tie at the end of your recorder. I was pretty determined to earn the black belt and so I went hard on the recorder and was the first one in my grade to earn it. It was at that moment I knew I was going to be a DJ. Just kidding. But also, my dad would tell me he thinks it’s special that I have an interest in technology and music, so I’ve kept that close to me and worked hard with those words in mind.




Can you walk us through your typical songwriting session?

After I’m done bashing my head against the wall, I like to feel optimistic in the room. I ask around what’s inspiring people and get a feel. It’s important for the people in the room to feel comfortable and transparent. So from there, we find chords, a hook, and just vibe out. Every session is different and I love it.




How has your move from Seattle to Los Angeles influenced your music style or career trajectory?

I moved straight to the beach and have been making melodic stuff all my life, so it was pretty good given that the music I made was feel-good, vibey stuff. But also, being in LA and around driven creative people made me push forward more into it. It’s important to carve your own lane and stay at it.




What has been the most surprising reaction to your music from a fan or a critic?

Benny Blanco told me to my face that he thinks my music is special. Mic drop.




Who in the current music scene do you see as a role model or inspiration?

There are such obvious answers like the big names and whatnot. But some to me include The Magician, Medasin, and Nora En Pure. So many to name, but those are three great names.




What's the story behind the choice of your stage name, 'Surf Mesa'?

In high school, I got really into a game called Counter-Strike, and I played it with a fellow classmate who also made music. The two of us made our music aliases references from Counter-Strike, so I made my name Surf Mesa, and he made his name Dust 2. Both names are maps from Counter-Strike.




With your career taking off at such a rapid pace, how do you manage the pressures that come with fame?

Have fun with it, work hard, believe in the best of the people around you, and most importantly, believe in yourself. This slows things down to take it day by day and it will feel like a blessing.







Can you share a memorable experience from one of your live performances on tour?




During a show in Vegas, I brought my dad on stage and we got to jump around and dance. The next day, I brought my mom on stage at a day club and it was awesome. The parents loved it!







What are some challenges you've faced in the music industry, and how have you overcome them?

People calling me a one-hit wonder. Lol, it feels weird but I mean, I did get super lucky but yet I’m even more stoked on the new stuff I’m making than having a very successful song. To me, that beats it.




If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

I’d love to make a song with Duke Dumont. His song “I Got U” has changed my life. I love it.




Are there any emerging artists on your radar that you believe people should pay more attention to?

I love seeing people make music that feels true to them. To me, that’s Pluko, Daniel Allen, and others.



Looking ahead, what are some goals you have for the next few years?

I’d love to play shows across the world and travel to experience more culture and share music that feels true to me. I want to bring my family and friends to amazing places and things that evolve around the opportunity brought by music. Everything that happens between us is a blessing.





Do you have any side projects or hobbies that influence your musical creativity?

Every night the boys and I hop on Counter-Strike. Gaming is spiritual. When the Discord server is stacked, it’s priceless.




If you weren't pursuing music, what profession do you think you would have gone into?

I genuinely love what I do so much I can’t even think about anything else I’d rather do. But if I had to choose, probably something in real estate and be involved with interior design. I think I have an eye for that stuff.




What do you find yourself obsessing about most in the studio?




I get really into making sure the song feels like me. That includes the chords and melody. I’ll spend all day rewriting chords. It kind of kills me though.




If you could set up a dream concert lineup, which artists would share the stage with you?




Nora en Pure, Duke Dumont, Rufus, The Magician, and Kygo (throwback set).





For a bit of fun: if you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?




Chipotle burrito bowl, with hot sauce.

Massive festival. Sorry, I can’t not vote for that. It’s obvious. I know some people will say nightclub, but let’s be real, dude.

From spinning records in the hidden gems of Liverpool to playing at the iconic Glastonbury festival, Paige Tomlinson has become a high-profile name in house music. Known for her impressive blend of '90s house grooves with cutting-edge beats, Paige has not only clinched victories in top DJ competitions for Defected Records and Moxy Muzik but has also laid down tracks that have become anthems in the music industry.


In this exclusive interview, Paige gives us the inside track on her meteoric rise, from her initial breakthroughs to her latest bangers like the crowd-favorite EP Butts Bumpin'. Let’s say you have writer’s block as a producer. How do you approach the creative process or find inspiration for your music when you begin working on a new track or EP? 

Normally when I have writer’s block, I’ll listen to a bunch of tracks that I’m loving at the moment and use one as a reference to try to create something similar.



What’s been the biggest highlight and challenge of your career so far? What brought your name to the spotlight? 

The biggest highlight of my career so far would definitely be playing at the Glastonbury Festival. It’s a festival I’ve been going to for years, so to have had the chance to play there was such a huge bucket list tick. A challenge of my career so far, and probably one I’m still trying to work on, is comparing myself to others on social media. It’s so important to try and stay in your own lane and focus on yourself.



What role has mentorship played in your development as an artist? Have you had any mentors? Any artist you admire? 

I haven’t had any mentors specifically, but I am lucky that I have met a lot of great people in the industry who I would now call friends. I can call them for advice, to bounce ideas off, or get feedback about things.

Can you share the significance behind the title of your EP, 'Butts Bumpin’'? Any funny crowd reactions when releasing that track? 

To be honest, there was no real significance behind it; I just called it what the lyrics were saying… I know, pretty original, haha. But I do get people coming up to me randomly singing the lyrics all the time!



Is there a track you’re itching to remix? Is there someone looking to remix your track? 

Confidence Man! I would definitely love to remix one of their tunes and vice versa; I would love them to remix one of mine!



What's your method for curating songs for a set, especially for massive gigs like those at Defected Croatia? 

When I’m creating a playlist for a set, I always try to envision what I think the crowd will want at that point in time. Sometimes it works; other times, I just have to read the crowd when I’m there.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your younger self just starting out in the DJ scene? The advice I’d give to my younger self is to always be true to yourself and never follow the crowd. Create your own path; don’t copy someone else’s.

How would you compare your style of sound then vs. now?

When I started DJing back in 2017, I was playing completely different stuff to what I play now. I used to play disco and was also really into more minimal tech stuff as well. Whereas now, I’d say my style is very much influenced by 90s house. High energy and happy vibes!



What’s your take on the current state of the music scene in Liverpool and beyond? 

I’d say the current state of the music scene is quite worrying, to be honest. I’ve seen some of my favorite venues that I grew up going to close down in Liverpool and beyond. Since Covid, it’s been harder for smaller venues to get back up and running again and compete with larger venues, and you can see since then it’s had a huge impact on ticket sales.

Do you see any emerging trends in music that excite you or that you think will become more mainstream? 

I’m loving how things are getting faster. It’s my guilty pleasure when I have a set that I’m able to play at a faster bpm.



What are your goals for the next five years, both professionally and personally? 

Professional goals for the next five years would be to concentrate on making the best music I possibly can. Personal goals would be making sure I’m getting the balance right: make sure I’m working out, eating healthy so that I’ve got a clear mind in the studio.



If you could organize your own music festival, what three artists would headline, and where would it be held? 

Peggy Gou, Job Jobse & Chloe Caillet.

If you could only play music from one decade during a set, which decade would you choose and why? 

The '90s definitely, to be honest, I’m pretty much doing that in most of my sets at the minute, haha.

Which fictional character do you think would enjoy your music the most, and why? 

Alan from The Hangover. I think he would be an absolute ball!

This Week in Ibiza (May 9th - 15th)

Name an artist who has been around for ages, released a few timeless bangers that still work today as club weapons, owns one too many bucket hats, drips out in tracksuits, and is from the Netherlands. His name is Moksi, and he's struck many chords in the music industry. Known for his tasteful style, both in music and fashion—sporting '90s tracksuits and bucket hats inspired by UK club sounds and American hip-hop—Moksi brings an unmistakable energy to his performances. With hits like “Gypsy” and “Slow Burn” from his album The Return Of House Music moving fans both emotionally and physically for years now around the globe, Moksi has demonstrated a rare ability to connect through music, from festival stages to intimate moments in listeners' lives.




In our exclusive interview, Moksi shares insights into the story behind his latest album "Moksi Crew," a tribute to his fans who have journeyed with him since his debut. He also delves into his approach to blending genres, curating music for his live sets, and the unexpected personal items that accompany him on tour. How did the concept of "Moksi Crew" evolve during its creation?

Moksi Crew symbolizes the connection between me and the fans. We’ve been together on this journey since 2015, and I wanted to dedicate this album to them. 


What's the story behind the choice of your distinctive stage wear, particularly the bucket hat and ‘90s tracksuit?

My music is heavily inspired by the UK club sound, and I'm also influenced a lot by the ‘90s USA hip-hop era. The combination of these two influences resulted in the tracksuit and the bucket hat. Besides that, it looks fresh, it is very comfy stage wear, to be honest. Would recommend it.




Can you describe the moment you realized "Gypsy" and "Slow Burn" were going to be massive hits?




The funny thing about this is that those two songs weren’t made to be hits. When I was making The Return Of House Music, I wanted a couple of melodic tunes on it besides the bass-heavy songs people know me for. Turns out, those songs were fan favorites. When I released the album, I noticed that they were streaming way better than the other songs. 



I guess it's because they feel timeless to people. These are songs people can connect with at different times in their lives besides clubbing. I’ve been getting videos of people marrying to the songs, but also messages about how people found solace in hardship. Amazing to realize my music can achieve that. Proud!




How do you approach blending different genres, like house, bass, and techno, in your production process?



The truth is that most of the time I just throw cool sounds together, and something dope comes out the other end. My production process is based on an experimental level. I'm letting the process guide me, not the other way around. Sometimes a certain vocal or sound just screams for a certain approach, and I follow that. Sometimes I feel like the song already exists, but I just have to make it.




What has been the most memorable reaction from a crowd during one of your sets?




I think that USA crowds connect super well to my music; it seems that you guys make the show together with me. One memory is EZOO 2021. What a vibe that was.




What's your favorite secret weapon track to use during your sets?



Boom Shakalaka is the one. Always has been, and I feel like it always will be.


And finally, what’s the most unexpected item we’d find in your DJ bag?


I guess that would be an unhealthy amount of bucket hats. TSA has asked questions about it in the past.

Tracksuits and Turntables: The Moksi Method

When searching on YouTube for the famous song "Time" by Pachanga Boys, the top comment, which has the most likes, reads, “We all are in search of love in any shape, that's why we love this kind of art and that's why I love anyone who reads this because I know you are also in search of love and you know it too.” This comment is fitting, as this 15-minute track ignites a feeling of love and captures how it feels to walk through life, observing how time simply passes by.




We sat down with the German and Mexican duo who are storytellers behind the decks and are back on the road for an exciting world tour after taking a brief hiatus from the hustle and bustle of the music industry. It’s exciting news! These two have created a timeless deep house banger. It's also great to have a duo that weaves tracks spanning disco, funk, Latin, and country influences into a rich tapestry of sound. Their label, Hippie Dance, is an extension of their artistic ethos—emphasizing freedom, creativity, and an unapologetic departure from the conventional. Let’s dive right in and discover more about the enigmatic duo.






Being that you're a German and Mexican duo, how has the cultural background of each of you influenced the sound of Pachanga Boys?


In every way we like to think… If you look at our individual work and then at the Pachanga universe, you can hear how both worlds are entangled with each other. It's hard to describe in detail something so ephemeral, but it's possible to see the rawness of some elements combined with the deep musicality of others, the repetitiveness, and the sarcastic splashes here and there.


Can you share the story behind your first collaboration on "Fiesta Forever" and how it set the tone for Pachanga Boys?




Fiesta Forever was a happy accident that led to Pachanga Boys. Superpitcher was working on his second solo album “Kilimanjaro” and asked Rebolledo, who was then living in Cologne at Super's mansion, to record some vocals. In one break of those sessions, Super started testing a new instrument playing a catchy melody. Rebolledo started singing on top of it, “Mis amigos, vamos a la fiesta, hay que disfrutar que va a estar buena la Pachanga.” 



Super asked: “What is that?” Rebolledo replied: “I just made it up… thought it fitted the melody.” So, we recorded this lovely little tune and called it Fiesta Forever! Kompakt wanted to include it on their annual compilation “Total 10,” and when Michael Mayer asked, “Who are you guys?" our answer was: “We are Pachanga Boys.”


What's the philosophy behind your label, Hippie Dance, and how do you curate artists for it?




Welcome to the New Church of Hippie. A place of freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of mind, freedom of dance. There’s no flower without power, and we truly believe in a daily shower. There's no need for Patchouli over here; we'd rather have Yves Saint Laurent’s "Opium" always near! It started as a playground and home for our own productions. We just wanted to be free to release whatever we wanted and do it fast. Eventually, and naturally, it opened up to great music from beautiful friends and allies. It was just coming together like this. To be continued...


How has the dynamic between you evolved over the years since you first started collaborating?

Well… it's been a ride for sure! And still unfolding. Life is a funny thing, and everything is morphing and changing constantly. We’ve been touring and spreading the love for about 10 years before we felt like having a little break. Coming back now to play a string of special shows is very exciting.


Reflecting on your career, is there a particular moment or performance that stands out as defining for Pachanga Boys?



It’s difficult to name just one as there have been quite a few. We are really into moments. “Lost track of time” 25 Hours at M.N. Roy was perhaps the most crazy thing we ever did. We always thought that as long as there’s one person enjoying what you play, you can always play one more record, so having this in mind, we decided to do this “social experiment” in Mexico City at M.N. Roy. 

We gathered people from 6 PM on a Saturday to finish at 7 PM the next day. We actually wanted to lock them in but then realized it was too scary. No watches were allowed, so people had no idea what time it really was. People dropped in and definitely dropped out. And back again. It was intensely beautiful. There were tears!



How do you balance individual projects with your work as Pachanga Boys?

These days Pachanga Boys is a very special thing in our agendas. We carefully choose and hand-pick the shows and make them count. This gives us some time to work on our other endeavors.


In what ways do you think electronic music and its scene have changed since you first started?

So many. It’s always and constantly changing. For better and worse. These days sadly music has less and less to do with the so called music scene. Other factors like social media, hypes, name dropping, and big screens have become as important (if not more) than the music itself it seems. Let’s bring music back!



Are there any artists or genres outside of electronic music that inspire your work as Pachanga Boys?

Sure thing. Actually most (if not all) of our references and inspirations come from other sources totally different from today’s electronic music. Our references are closer to folk, country music, classic rock, disco, funk. Inspiration is everywhere. You can be sure we would never check Beatport's top ten tracks to check what “the sound of today” is and try to recreate it in our own way. We have our own way.




What's your process for creating new music? Do you have a particular routine or method?

The technical process can be different from time to time. We have to be together in the same room to get the juices flowing. We usually get in there with a concept in mind and then find a way to catch the ideas before they’re gone again. Record before malfunction. And there’s a percentage of magic too. And that you can’t explain.


What advice would you give to upcoming artists who look up to Pachanga Boys?

Don’t listen too much to advice from anyone.



If you could collaborate with any artist, living or deceased, who would it be and why?

We like dead people… Lee Hazlewood would be a dream.


What's the most unexpected source of inspiration you've found for a track?

A river maybe…but is it that unexpected?


And finally, if you were stuck on an island and could only bring three records with you to play, which would you bring?

That must be the most difficult question ever and it so rarely happens to be stuck on an island. We are two so can we bring six at least?

MONDAY

Zazu & Worried About Henry (WAH)

Zazu, a newcomer to Ibiza's lively club scene, is poised to make a splash at Eden during the early part of the 2024 season. Running for six dates, from May 6 to June 10, Zazu has reeled in an exciting lineup featuring some of the most prominent figures of the ascending Afro house scene. Attendees can anticipate thrilling performances from renowned artists like Da Capo, Enoo Napa, and Caiiro.

Following Zazu's energetic kickoff, Worried About Henry (WAH), a powerhouse in drum & bass, will take the reins for the remainder of the season every Monday night, starting June 17 and concluding with a grand finale on September 30. 

Drawing from past experiences with DnB luminaries such as Chase & Status, Andy C, and Wilkinson, Hybrid Minds, Sub Focus, this season promises to be nothing short of spectacular.

TUESDAY

Reboot Presents Outset

Originating from Ireland, a country with a deep-rooted connection to dance, Outset has made a significant mark on the electronic dance music scene, through its record label, party series and DJ agency. Taking place every Tuesday from 4 June until 3 September, Reboot Presents Outset Ibiza 2024 will occupy a 14-week residency at Eden.

After a dark horse run last season, with acts such as LaLa, Hannah Laing and 999999999 to name a few, Outset Ibiza will bring the best of this burgeoning dance genre to the heart of San Antonio throughout the summer.

WEDNESDAY

One Night Stand

One Night Stand makes a highly anticipated return to Eden Ibiza with an impressive 20-date residency, taking place every Wednesday from May 8 to September 18, 2024. Back after a five-year hiatus, One Night Stand is celebrated for its exploration of the island's raw, underground nightlife culture and minimal music scene.

Spearheading this revival is Game Over, a team renowned for their influence on dance music with events like Carl Cox's Music Is Revolution, WILDCHILD, and LiFT. Previously, One Night Stand left its mark on venues such as DC-10, Amnesia, and Pacha from 2018 to 2019.

Championing the sounds of the underground, their summer 2024 roster has just been announced, and it is quite frankly, huge. From Dr Banana, Burnski, Black Loops, Laidlaw, Lauren Lo Sung, Voightmann, Rossko, S.A.M, Dennis Quin, and Lockead to a host of names who are on the cusp of stardom. They've covered the whole spectrum of this burgeoning genre.

THURSDAY

One More Time

After mesmerizing crowds and igniting the dancefloor with its authentic homage to old-school nostalgia during its previous summer residency, One More Time Ibiza returns triumphantly in 2024. This residency has swiftly established itself as a pivotal event for retro dance enthusiasts,  serving as a portal to the cherished late '90s and early 2000s — widely hailed as the golden age of trance music. 

The lineup reads like a who's who of the legends who crafted the soundtrack of a generation. With returning headliners such as Tall Paul, Seb Fontaine, Slipmatt, and Dave Pearce, the event guarantees an authentic journey back in time.

FRIDAY

Space

Space Ibiza - the iconic club, curated by Pepe Rosello, shut its doors in 2016 after reigning supreme for 27 years as a pinnacle of electronic music and club culture. Now, it has selected Eden as its new home, heralding a revival that pays homage to both its storied past and a commitment to innovation.

Space will commence a whopping 24-week residency, running from April 26 to October 4, 2024, with a brief break on August 2.

Consider the illustrious names that graced the revered club during its nearly three-decade reign on the island. While we can't guarantee Carl Cox's return, we're certainly in for a lineup of incredible talent.

SATURDAY

Peaches

Bringing a completely different vibe to Eden's weekly roster, is Peaches. A brand new edition to the lub, every Saturday night from 25 May until 31 August, Eden will transform into a paradise of reggaeton, hip-hop, and dancehall.

With a lineup that boasts international chart-topping sensations such as Jason Derulo, Stefflon Don, Tion Wayne, Russ Millions and more, the stage is set for unforgettable performances throughout the peak season.

SUNDAY

ABODE

Closing out the week on a high, is leading London-born, tech house trojan, ABODE. Throughout the summer, ABODE will reign supreme on Sunday nights from May 26 to September 29, 2024. 

The residency promises a curated lineup of esteemed DJs delivering electrifying tech house beats, featuring luminaries such as Yousef, Detlef, Alisha, Steve Lawler, Richy Ahmed, Max Dean, and more. Attendees can expect an unforgettable experience crafted by this tight-knit roster of the brand's favorite talent.

Dive into the beat with Jonas Saalbach, the maestro behind the decks and the brains behind Radikon, where melodic techno meets house music with a fresh twist. Jonas goes beyond just playing tracks; he creates a unique and bold sound that energizes dance floors and dominates streaming charts. Radikon isn't just a label; it's Jonas's baby, a playground where the underground gets a spotlight, and new sounds get to bloom.



In a candid chat, Jonas spills on what makes Radikon tick, his green heart in a not-so-green industry, his adventures into uncharted musical territories, and many more exciting projects. Amidst the whirlwind of beats and basslines, Jonas stays rooted, fueled by the electric energy of the crowd, the camaraderie with fellow artists, and those quiet moments that spark creativity. With your label Radikon, what new directions or innovations are you hoping to explore in the electronic music scene?

Our mission with the label is to release contemporary and a bit edgy melodic techno and house music that we like to play ourselves. We don't have to reinvent the wheel with every release, but we make sure that the songs we sign are not like 100 others on the market. We put a lot of thought into the releases. Radikon is an absolute heart project and I think we have found our sound over the years.



Are there any emerging artists on Radikon that you're particularly excited about? Can you share why?

Arude is one of our artists who has been with us for a long time and makes extremely good and innovative music. A mix of bouncy tech house and melodic techno. And always very groovy. Every track tears up the dancefloor. An underrated artist and I hope that more people will take notice of him. Another talent is Eze Ramirez from Buenos Aires. To be honest, I am often jealous of the ideas he brings to his songs :)

Environmental consciousness seems important to you. How do you incorporate sustainability into your music production or tours?

Yes, I love nature and I think it's important to respect it. However, as a touring DJ, I'm not a role model when it comes to this topic. Nevertheless, I try to be mindful in my everyday life. Little things like always taking the train when I can or minimizing animal products are important to me.



Have you considered exploring other genres or musical styles in your future work? If so, which ones?

Yes, absolutely. During the pandemic, I had a bit more time and released a Lofi EP under a different name. As for my main project, I'd like to explore other areas as well. My next six-track release, Acceleration, will have the sound people know me for, but I'm currently working on a slightly different sound. Since this is still a work in progress, I think it's too early to talk about it. In any case, it will be dance floor-oriented.



What role do you see virtual reality or new technologies playing in the future of electronic music performances?

I think they play a big role. We can already see that large visual productions are very successful and the DJs themselves are playing a smaller role. Artificial intelligence will also have an impact on the market. It is already possible to produce really good-sounding music with AI. As a producer, this can certainly cause some concern, because the question of whether you can be replaced by technology in the future is certainly justified. Nevertheless, I take things as they come. I'm always optimistic about the future and think that a producer's unique musical signature can't be replaced so easily. Perhaps innovations will come onto the market that I find helpful and inspiring. It's an exciting topic in any case!



How do you stay inspired and motivated in the fast-paced world of electronic music?

just love the essence of electronic music. I love to dance to it, produce it, enjoy the vibe at parties, tour, and meet new like-minded people. That motivates me to keep going at a time when, as a producer and DJ, you have to devote at least as much time to marketing via social media. Making music is also really my space where I can slow down and escape the relentless pace. Actually, I'm about to release a mini album called Acceleration in May, which addresses this topic. When I was writing the songs, I thought a lot about my personal little cosmos and how I deal with the increasing acceleration in my daily life.

Can you share one piece of advice you've received that has significantly impacted your approach to music?

My Radikon partner, David Guzy, once commented on some new demos I had just produced: 'It sounds like you're pretending to sound like someone else.' He was right. So, I decided to make the next tracks absolutely authentic. In my mini album Acceleration, I tried not to be influenced by current trends, but to write the pure Jonas Saalbach sound—melodic, melancholic, uplifting, and a bit happy.



If you could perform a back-to-back set with any artist, living or deceased, who would it be and why?

I would like to play a B2B with Julya Karma from New York. I like her very much as a person and as an artist. I think this could be a pretty good set ☺

If your music could be the soundtrack to any movie or TV show, which would you choose and why?

I would ideally like to make music for a film that has an atmosphere like Interstellar. Or something completely different. A film to which I could create old-school hip-hop beats. An old passion of mine.

Imagine you're stranded on a deserted island but have all the equipment needed to create music; what's the first song you'd produce?

In that case, it wouldn't matter whether the song was released and would be a 10 or 20-minute jam with a big, dreamy soundscape.

Eric Prydz and Patrick Topping

From June 24 through to September 9, Pryda label-head Eric Prydz invites you into the [CELL]. Last summer marked the first time that the Swedish superstar has held a residency on the island since 2017, and it went exactly how we all expected - extraordinarily.

Prydz has found the perfect incubator for the exciting new chapter in his audio-visual experimentations, as he moves from his HOLO concept into [CELL], taking place in Hï’s pioneering Theater.

Not only will there be the excitement of Prydz and probably some very special guests joining him throughout the summer, but for 12 exclusive Mondays, the Club Room will also be under the control of British DJ and producer Patrick Topping.

This Monday link-up from June 24, to September 9 allows you to glide between both the club’s impressive dance floors and experience two completely different genres in one evening.

The Martinez Brothers

The self-named residency by The Martinez Brothers takes place every Tuesday, as they use their charismatic pull factor to attract crowds in their thousands to the streets of Playa den Bossa, June 18, to September 24..

The trendy dyad takes on The Theatre each week, usually performing for 3 hours (03:00 - 06:00), and invites a HUGE roster of DJs to join them each week. Last summer saw the likes of Marco Carola, Kerri Chandler, Chris Stussy, Jaden Thompson, Louie Vega, Loco Dice and more. And that’s just The Theatre!

If one room wasn’t enough, Ibiza veteran Paco Osuna takes over Hï's Club Room each week with his revered Now Here imprint, serving up his 10/10 tech house beats alongside a specially curated line-up chosen by the Spanish powerhouse.

Chart-topping DJ and Australian tech-house producer FISHER returns to the white isle this summer, for the third season of his very own residency at the award-winning super-club, commencing June 5.

Throughout the 2024 clubbing season, the grammy-nominated sensation will once again take over the club's Theatre each and every Wednesday from June 5 to September 25. If you’re an avid follower of The Fish, you will know that he announced on his IG that Patrick Topping will be taking his place in The Theatre on June 19 and July 10, as his lovely wife Chloe is due to give birth! However, he will be extending the residency to October 2 to make up for these lost dates.

Once again, the Club Room will be hosted by Brazilian heavyweight, Vintage Culture. Showcases of his signature bass-driven melodic house, those looking to bust a move will find his mix of alluring vocals and warm, rolling low ends irresistible. Returning to Playa d’en Bossa, Tale of Us' famed party Afterlife arrives once again at Hï Ibiza, running from June 27, to August 22.

Committing to two full rooms for the whole season, The Theatre will feature the progressive house and techno of the italian duo whilst The Club hosts darker techno.

Future Rave

A name that needs no introduction, Grammy-award-winning American DJ and producer David Guetta teams up once again with respected Danish selector MORTEN to present Future Rave every Friday at Hï Ibiza, from June 7 to October 4, 2024.

Guetta oversees selections in Hï Ibiza’s state-of-the-art Theatre, where you can expect supercharged dark-leaning beats, and explosive drops, along with new guest DJs every week.

As the pair take us on a journey into the darker side of music, Future Rave bosses also brought along a string of talent in previous summers including Idris Elba, Vintage Culture, Arielle Free, Miss Monique, Tchami, ARTBAT, and more.

Black Coffee

Holding the prestigious title of being the first EVER Hï Ibiza resident, Black Coffee continues this reign in 2024 as he’s back with his weekend slot on Saturday’s.

The GRAMMY-nominated superstar takes over Hï's Theatre each week, where he often invites some aristocratic guests including fellow countrymen Da Capo, Culoe de Song and Themba, as well as scene dignitaries such as Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, The Blessed Madonna, Keinemusik, and DJ Tennis. 

All carefully selected to build-up to the main event that is Black Coffee's cutting-edge soundtrack. Oh, and this seems to be the night that A-List celebs like to attend - Travis Scott, Drake and Alisha Keys, and the world’s best footballers have all been spotted at Hï partying with Coffee.

Over in the Club Room, Damian Lazarus ventures away from unique settings like the jungle, beach and mountains, as he takes the throne of the venue's intimate underground setting every Saturday. A dedicated champion of new talent, many of his guests will be making their Ibiza debut, as well as revered legends of house music.

2024 marks the 10th anniversary of Glitterbox as it returns home to Hi Ibiza on Sunday’s, from May 5 to October 6.

Glitterbox calls on the world’s most respected DJs in disco and house such as Kenny Dope, Jayda G, Bob Sinclar, Dimitri From Paris, Honey Dijon, Purple Disco Machine, Horse Meat Disco, Moodymann, Folamour and more. 

Each room will feature iconic performers, dazzling dancers and the signature Glitterbox sound, which captures the essence of nu-disco, vocal house and classic dancefloor anthems.

Hï Ibiza 2024 Residencies

Since the early 2000s, Soul Clap has been carving a path through the electronic industry with their distinct approach and sound. Their early edits, despite initial controversy, became summer anthems all throughout the 2000s and 2010s, ushering in a prolific career. Hailing from Boston, Charlie Levine and Eli Goldstein journeyed through Brooklyn, blossomed in Berlin, and now in Miami and New York, respectively, command the electronic funk scene. Whether it’s through Soul Clap Records, their imprint/touring party EFUNK, or the slew of collaborations, you never know what’s next for the duo.

Now, going into 2024, Soul Clap is set to release their new EP, EcoSystemS, marking a return to joint projects after a year of advocacy. Whether it’s Eli’s graduate studies in climate policy or Charlie’s work in coral reef construction, Soul Clap is consistently dedicated to sustainability and environmental stewardship, working closely with several organizations like DJs for Climate Action and GenZero Action. The new project will be released alongside an eco-conscious tour, epitomizing their combined commitment to music and the planet. Ahead of their EP launch, I had the privilege of sitting down with Soul Clap earlier this week to explore the evolution of their sound and how environmental advocacy plays a role in their music.



Where are you right now, and what’s in store for release week?

Charlie: I’m in the Japanese countryside surrounded by beautiful traditional art (gesturing to his green screen background). No, I’m actually in my studio in Miami right now, preparing for Miami Music Week. We’ve been playing it consecutively since 2001!

Eli: I’m at my home in upstate New York, about to head down to Miami for all of our shows and parties to celebrate the release of the EP. This is my first time going down there to play in a while!

This month marks twenty-three years of Soul Clap. Having founded Soul Clap Records and House of EFUNK while working with a pantheon of artists, what are some of your favorite memories of collaboration?

SC: Earlier this year, we lost a close friend and collaborator, Amp Fiddler. Amp was a positive presence who taught us so much both inside and outside the studio. Performing with him in Detroit with a full band will always be a cherished memory. He also opened many doors, and is the reason we were able to work with more legends like George Clinton and Nona Hendryxs.



From funk compilations with XL Middleton and Detroit legends for EFUNK006 to emerging minds like Tatie Dee, how do you approach working with such a large variety of artists through your label?

Eli: The overall ethos came from the earliest days of working with Wolf + Lamb. We found this inherent belief that if you’re going to release music with someone, you have to form a relationship and know them on a deeper level than just their sound. This has manifested in all of our releases so far, as we’re close friends with our collaborators and the artists showcased on EFUNK.

Your most recent single, “Extravaganza,” from the new project, is a remake of your anthemic Jamie Foxx edit from ten years ago. How do you choose what to update while still preserving the nostalgia it carries?

Charlie: Many of our early edits that became popular were very bootleg-y and pieced together. Most of the updating is done through the large number of new synthesizers, drum machines, and samplers we’ve amassed. For that song specifically, we used a new Moog patch for the bass and processed the drums a lot more.



Eli: The recording with Life On Planets was done at House Under Magic Studios in Brooklyn and took a lot of time to capture the energy of the original.

Charlie: It was mixed by Tom Ruijg in Amsterdam, who makes his own music under the moniker Tracey, and then sent to Moustache Mastering in California to get the final product.

The second collaboration with Life on Planets on the EP, “Rick Fredkin,” takes your funky sound in a new uptempo and breaky direction. Was this a natural evolution of your typical house sound?

Charlie: First, I’ll explain the meaning behind it. The song is named after our close friend, Rick, the son of digital theorist Edward Fredkin. Ed, who passed away recently, worked in the beginnings of artificial intelligence and pioneered a theory that the universe could function like one giant computer. Rick has followed in his footsteps as a bright technological mind but still parties and raves alongside us all the same. In a hectic digital world, this was our dedication to him, trying to say, “It's in your hands.”



Eli: Regarding the track's sound, jungle and breakbeats were a massive part of how we got into music. When we were growing up, raves and parties would always have multiple rooms, each with different genres to enjoy, so we were listening to everything. I used to mix drum and bass often, but as the Soul Clap project took off, I transitioned out of it and focused more on funk and house. I think one of the songs of our earliest project has the essence of a jungle song, just really slowed down.

Charlie: I think if you listen to our sound over the years, you can definitely see the influences. We’ve always tried to mix the sounds of classic breakbeat, like specific bass patches or ethereal pads. What may seem like a departure to our listeners feels more authentic to us internally.

Can you name some of your favorites who inspired the breakbeats?

Eli: A lot of the Brazilian jungle and breaks like DJ Patife and DJ Marky. I recently played “Sambassim” by DJ Patife at a party. Other than that, I love Creative Source and Marcus Intalex, a powerhouse from the UK that we lost a few years ago. Rest in Peace.



Eli, you took some time in 2023 to focus on your thesis and further your work with DJs for Climate Action. What are some of your biggest takeaways from the surveys and research, and how did that factor into the new project?

Eli: In June 2023, I completed my Master's in Climate Science and Policy and published my thesis on climate action in the electronic music industry. It was incredible to see the sense of action needing to take place, and it allowed me to collaborate with new organizations focused on making a positive impact. Overall, the biggest takeaway that manifested inside and outside of the music was the sense of helping people remember that we are all nature.



Can you describe studying coral reef reconstruction in Tulum? Do you try to bring any of the experiences or emotions from your joint activism into your music?

Charlie: I’ll leave the science behind it to the researchers to describe, but what I can tell you is that we experienced taking biotic field recordings of active coral reefs on the Florida coast. In these recordings, you get to hear all of the sounds of a healthy ecosystem, like little pops from shrimp and other life forms, in comparison to the dead and bleached reefs, which are just silence. The soundscapes don’t really have audible calls or vocalizations as you would expect, but they sound almost like white noise, very atmospheric and buzzing. On tracks off of the EP, like “On and On,” we incorporated these sounds by recreating their energy and emotion and trying to inject the track with the essence of the healthy ecosystem.



Eli: Overall, we’ve been trying to incorporate more natural sounds into the music. Most recently, we were in Mexico, and the area where the studio was located had a bunch of chickens outside. The chickens fit into the overall rhythmic structure of the song, so we went outside, field-recorded them, and added them in. All of the field recordings bring a new sense of life and capture the

What goes into planning an environmentally sustainable nationwide tour? Is there any sense of limitations, and subsequently, can you balance them with delivering an event of a similar or higher caliber than you’ve given to fans in the past?

Charlie: There’s definitely some sense to deliver after we’ve been throwing events for so long, but we turned to venues and promoters who we have relationships and experience with, so we know they’ll share our values and be able to deliver the same quality of events.

Eli: Some limitations come up, but overall, the sustainability makes the parties better. For example, I’m taking the West Coast leg off because I can’t get there by car or train and decided not to use air travel. Because of that, I’m focusing more energy on the events close to home. Having plastic-less parties also makes the dance floor cleaner and more enjoyable space for everyone involved, and playing in more diverse spaces allows us to learn more and connect with new people.



Earth Night 2024 is set to retake place globally in cities like New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, Lisbon, Paris, and Barcelona. Are there any exciting details you can share about this year's celebrations?

SC: This is our seventh year in a row playing Earth Night, and this year, we have around thirty events taking place worldwide. This year, DJs for Climate Action is primarily focused on this idea of “regenerative” celebrations, or leaving the space we choose to take up better and more nourished than when we arrived. This means working on location with even more teams and local organizations than ever before. We’re super excited for next month.



2024 feels like a breath of new life, with Eli returning for “EcoSystemS.” After this EP, what's next for the label? What do you want to share with the fans?

Eli: For the labels, we have a whole variety of new music coming out. Our first British artist, the London-based afro-beat duo 2fox, will have a project releasing soon under Soul Clap. Other than that, we have another FSQ album, and also releases from a new supergroup, “Choosy Lover,” made up of all-stars from the Soul Clap Records family. We know that the last five years have been tumultuous, with the pandemic leading into numerous conflicts. It’s been an unstable time in our lives, and we’re now choosing to connect more with our fans and push more emotion into our music.



Charlie: Going into this tour and the EP's release, we really just want to remind people that the “ecosystem” isn’t just about animals or nature. We are all part of the ecosystem, play a role, and should be conscious of our decisions.

French-American extraordinaire David Guetta, also known for his long rein as the world's number one DJ, returns to the sun-drenched dance floor of Ushuaïa Ibiza with his legendary F*** ME I’M FAMOUS! residency from Monday June 3 for a whopping 18-week residency through to October 7. 

Guetta is no stranger to hosting epic parties in Ibiza, as FMIF confidently strides into yet another year, alongside his Future Rave residency at the sister venue, Hï Ibiza, every Friday night.

While Guetta himself is the star attraction of this iconic party, each week he is joined by some of the biggest names in electronic music. Though the full lineups are yet to be unveiled, if the past few years are any indication, attendees can anticipate performances from renowned artists such as Cedric Gervais, Afrojack, Lost Frequencies, Jonas Blue, Joel Corry, Martin Solveig, Hugel, Purple Disco Machine, Sigala, and Robin Schulz.

Defected

After much anticipation and discussion during the off-season, Defected has unveiled Ushuaia Ibiza as its new island home for 2024! This shift to Playa d'en Bossa marks one of the boldest moves yet under the new leadership of Wez Saunders. 

Coinciding with this major relocation, this year also marks the 25th anniversary of the label, renowned party series, and artist management powerhouse, dubbed for summer as Defected XXV.

The inaugural 22-week residency spans from Tuesday May 7th, to Tuesday October 1st, and promises pure house music excellence. Covering all corners of the genre, the emphasis is on the sounds and talent of tomorrow, as well as underground favorites, established pioneers, and respected tastemakers.

Tomorrowland

Pioneers of the global EDM festival scene, Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, make a triumphant return to the magical island with Tomorrowland for an extended season in 2024.

Commencing with an unprecedented opening party on Wednesday May 15th, a full month earlier than usual, the festivities will grace the open-air venue of Ushuaïa Ibiza until October 2nd (excluding July 24th, August 14th, and September 4th).

For the first time ever, the stage design for Tomorrowland events will harmonize with the overarching theme of 'LIFE,' the focal point of Tomorrowland's Belgium festival for 2024.

Special guests such as Afrojack, Lost Frequencies, Steve Aoki, The Chainsmokers, and Timmy Trumpet will join the brothers this summer, along with Alok, Chapter & Verse, Joel Corry, John Newman, Marlon Hoffstadt, Regard, and more, all gracing Ushuaïa's stage facing thousands throughout the season.

elrow's outdoor extravaganza is also set to take place over three dates at Ushuaïa. The three Wednesday dates in 2024 are 24 July (Delusionville), 14 August (El Rowcio) and 4 September (Dance With The Serpent).

The Night League’s renowned in-house underground event ANTS has been an unstoppable force in Ibiza's clubbing scene since 2013. Now they're gearing up for their biggest season yet at their home base of Ushuaïa Ibiza, marking over a decade of being one of the island's most esteemed underground gatherings.

Saturday May 4th, ANTS kicks off with a spectacular day-to-night extravaganza spanning both Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza, with the same the following weekend.

Ushuaïa Ibiza 2024 Residencies

On Friday, March 22nd, Femme House hosted their second event during Miami Music Week at the prestigious W Hotel in South Beach. The event was a panel discussion focused on education and mentorship in music.

Femme House is committed to creating opportunities for women, gender-expansive, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ creatives in the technical and behind-the-scenes areas of music. The organization is developing the future producers, mixers, engineers, DJs, artists, and executives of the industry by providing education, scholarships, cultivating community, furthering visual representation, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities.



Current Artist Fellows of Femme House include Hai-Life, Zora, Chloe Batelle, Senaerya, and Joanna Magik. They had the opportunity to network directly with the panelists, connect, and pitch them their projects.



This conversation featured Femme House Co-founders Hermixalot and LP Giobbi moderating the conversation with a dynamic lineup of panelists such as Ronny Ho (Head of Dance and Electronic Development at Spotify), Heather Church (Vice President, Talent & Marketing at Club Glow, Echostage, Soundcheck), Stephanie Karten (A&R Director at Armada Music US), Julia Fugazy (General Manager at Bedouin Music Inc), and Bailey Greenwood (Booking Agent at WME).



Attendees had the unique opportunity to hear insights from artist managers, premier agents, music industry professionals, and labels on what they look for in emerging artists. Here are some of the key insights shared by the panelists:

Ronny Ho from Spotify emphasized the importance of building and cultivating your own fan base first. She mentioned, “Playlisting on Spotify isn't everything. It's equally important to make sure you have a robust artist profile with music.” According to Ho, Spotify wants to hear as much music as they can.

Stephanie Karten, A&R Director at Armada Music US, shared her perspective on what she looks for in artists. She focuses on the music, wanting to hear something unique that stands out from the pack. She also values an artist who is working on building a community and fan base, and who has a clear vision of where they see themselves in five years.



Bailey Greenwood, Booking Agent at WME, believes that an artist's story is what gravitates her to work with them. She emphasized not putting a timeline on what you're doing and the importance of looking beyond music when building an artist's brand.

The panel resonated with the idea that "it takes hustle" to succeed in the music industry. Building a strong fan base, having unique and standout music, and cultivating a community were all highlighted as essential elements for up-and-coming artists.

What was your inspiration and the importance of having these types of panels during Miami Music Week?

“I think that the initial thought for us was there's just not very much for folks to do that aren't men at Miami Music Week, you know? The other thought was, it can be such a party, you know? Which is super fun. What we learned last year, we didn't think that people would come. There's so many parties and there's a lot of fun stuff. When we had such a great turnout, we realized that people were sort of hungry for these conversations to take place and ways to come together, during the day and not at a bar, you know what I mean? That there was real space being created for queer people and BIPOC people and women and gender-expansive folks, who just wanted to come together and be at Miami Music Week, but also feel seen and like together and with the community.”



What does it mean to you to have the fellowship program for the creatives?

“This is our first year doing it. What we hope is that we bring more and more folks every year and that we just sort of use our juice in the room to take them places. We took them earlier to the Meta Women's Brunch. We are taking them after to a Spotify party. We want them to meet people and build community and build relationships. It can be hard; Miami Music Week can be very overwhelming. It can be very taxing. It can be a lot of things. It could be a lot at once. On a base level, we just want to help people feel comfortable, you know, this is their first time here. And it's easier, I think, to have your first time when you know somebody and somebody can vouch for you and, you know, help you, introduce you to people and, you know, it just feels better.



It's support anyway. I think that's important, for folks, you know, the more marginalized among us in the dance music community like to come together and just feel safe together, get to know one another. Right? There's power in numbers and there's power in community and support and that's all we're up to.”

Any future plans for Femme House? Have you all already thought about a panel for next year?

“We hope to expand this next year and bring more fellows. To provide them hopefully with some performance opportunities. As for Femme House's future, it's about to get crazy. That's all I can say.”

It all kicked off with those tech house edits on SoundCloud and local gigs around Leeds, but it wasn’t long before his track "Cocaina'' caught fire on Lee Foss's South of Saturn imprint, turning heads and moving feet worldwide.




Talbot's journey is as real as it gets. Starting from humble beginnings with a love for music, he found his groove in electronic beats and never looked back. This exclusive chat dives deep into how he lays down tracks, starting with those crucial drum patterns and keeping distractions at bay to keep the creative vibes flowing. How do you approach the creative process when starting a new track, and how do you know when it's complete?


I usually start my track with drums, as to me, they're the most crucial element of any track. I always try to draw inspiration from the dance floor and music that I love. A big part of my creative workflow is making sure I'm in the right mindset to create and getting rid of distractions like my phone, etc. Knowing when something is finished can be difficult; a big part of my workflow is testing new music and making sure it works live, and to me, if it does, it's pretty much there.



Can you describe a moment or experience when you felt you truly connected with your audience during a live set?


I think the most connected I've felt to an audience during a set was during my set at Birmingham's Lab 11 when I headlined their Afta Dark event. The energy in that place is truly special, and I felt like the crowd was very open to the different styles of music I was playing. It went off!



What was it about Lee Foss’s South of Saturn that made it the right fit for "Cocaina," and how has your relationship with the label evolved since then?


Lee Foss has always been a massive inspiration to me, and he keeps his eye on the scene very closely. He DM'd me as he saw the track on an Instagram page, and from there, the conversation started about him signing the track. I have now released on three of Lee’s labels, and it has always been an amazing experience. I will always be grateful to Lee and the Repopulate Mars team for all of their support on my sound.



In what ways do you think playing at different venues across the UK has shaped your approach to DJing and production?


Playing at different venues such as Mint Warehouse, Lab 11, TANK, and Egg London has really changed how I DJ and make music. Each city and event can have a different vibe to it, which has definitely made me more versatile as a DJ. A big goal of mine now is to start taking my sound abroad to different countries.





Could you share more about your vision for Redefy and how you plan to differentiate it in the crowded music label industry?


I think at the start, the main goal with Redefy was to have an outlet for my music that didn’t fit any other labels. Moving forward, I want it to have its own distinctive sound for me to showcase not only my own music but also other talented producers' work, and to have a clear aesthetic and sound for the music and visuals. I have lots of exciting plans with the label and some events where I will be showcasing the label's sound coming this year.



How do you stay inspired and avoid creative burnout, especially with the pressures of the industry?


I think avoiding burnout in this industry can be quite hard. I've got ADHD, which makes it sometimes overwhelming with how many different jobs you need to do to be a successful artist today. I've recently been able to go full time with my music, and this has definitely helped me manage my time better.





You recently released your third track “Fuck You” with House Hats Records. What is it about that team that keeps you coming back? Why did you release it on their imprint instead of your own?


House Hats Records has truly been an amazing team to work with, always providing a space for creative freedom and collaboration that feels like a second family. The team's constant support and shared excitement for pushing the boundaries in electronic music make them the perfect fit for my work. Dropping "Fuck You" with House Hats lets me reach a wider audience and connect to their network in America, which really pushes my sound.



How do you see your music evolving in the next five years, and are there any new labels you hope to release on?


In the next five years, the main goal would be to release a lot more longer projects and potentially a full album of tracks that flow together. I have a lot of label goals definitely. I would love to release on Hottrax, Belief, and Heavy House Society, among many more in the future.



What has been your most challenging project to date, and what did you learn from it?


I think my most challenging projects are the ones I am working on now. In the last few months, I have been making a lot of new music that has a lot more melodic elements than some of my older tracks, and they are starting to become a lot more detailed and complex, especially on the mix down side of things. I love challenging myself with new ideas and think enjoying the process is a big aspect of creating music and learning to be patient with new ideas sometimes.



If you could only play one more set, what three tracks would definitely make the playlist and why?


Kerri Chandler - You Are in My System. Probably my favorite house track of all time; it would have to make the playlist.


Danny Bond vs. Human Resource - Dominator (Extended Mix). This is just one of their tracks that always goes off no matter what; every time I have played this tune, it just gets everyone moving.


JIZZ, Oscar Silva - Back To Funk (Di Chiara Brothers Remix). Another track that has been in a lot of my sets over the past couple of years. I love this style of UKG-inspired minimal house.



Got any exciting upcoming releases or projects fans should be looking forward to?
I definitely plan to release a lot of new tracks this year. I have multiple EPs set to be released on Redefy and a remix of Kai Rodriguez's new track coming out in March, the first to LewRaz’s label NoHassle. I have lots of new music ready to share and have been focusing on taking my sound to the next level.

Since its opening in in 1976, the club's been home to some incredible residences such as Marco Carola's Music On and Sven Väth's Cocoon. For 2024, the powerhouse residencies continue as Amnesia is set for its most extensive and action-packed season yet, featuring a full seven-day-a-week lineup throughout the summer. 

So, we thought we’d simplify things for you, providing a day-by-day overview of the music you can expect at the mega club, so no matter when you arrive on the party island, rest assured that incredible DJs are at your fingertips.

MONDAY

Amnesia Presents - by Sonny Fodera & Danny Howard

Amnesia Presents kickstarts the week on Monday nights, and is a party spearheaded by the UK’s award-winning Sonny Fodera and long-reigning king of BBC Radio 1 Danny Howard. 

Since its inaugural season 2022, this fresh Ibiza series has quickly become a hit. For the last two years, UK powerhouse duo Gorgon City has been the third righteous party in demand, however for 2024, the focus is now on Fodera and Howard, as they welcome a wide range of guest artists to perform alongside them in The Terrace each week.

This summer, they’re also opening up the clubs second dancefloor, the Main Room, with a rotating lineup of headliners including Interplanetary Criminal, Sammy Virji, and Girls Don’t Sync! 

On The Terrace, the boys will be joined by a host of industry talent, including both established and exciting upcoming names, and will run from June 17 to September 30, 2024. Keep your eyes peeled for further line-up announcements, as this is the pair’s biggest summer yet.

TUESDAY

Claptone Presents The Masquerade 

Claptone returns to where it all began at Amnesia Ibiza this summer with his magical and mysterious The Masquerade, every Tuesday from June 25th to September 17th.

This move to Amnesia's Terrace on Tuesday's marks a significant moment for the island, and not only this, but The Masquerade will be in collaboration with underground powerhouse events brand HE.SHE.THEY, as they join forces to define a new era of house music. 

The Club Room will transform into an inclusive safe-space of underground luminaries, with fresh artists, HE.SHE.THEY staple production, and theatrical elements inspired by Ibiza's rich history. We didn’t see this collaboration coming, but we are here for it!

Pioneers such as Kerri Chandler, Pete Tong, and modern tastemakers such as Hannah Wants and John Summit have all graced The Masquerade with their presence in past seasons, making it a true celebration of authentic house music. So, who's in store for us this summer?

WEDNESDAY

Paradise

Wednesday’s at Amnesia offer up a lil’ slice of Paradise.

Jamie Jones and Amnesia have forged an irresistible partnership in just two seasons, and we have the privilege of experiencing this synergy once again this summer, every Wednesday, starting from June 19 and concluding on October 2.

Centered around the signature sound of Jamie’s OG label Hot Creations, Paradise consistently draws a crowd of passionate music enthusiasts from around the world. 

True to its name, Paradise offers a haven for house and techno aficionados each week with its exotic themes, from last year's Night of The Jaguar, to this year's focus, Temples Of The Sun. Enticing!

In addition to Jamie Jones himself, last year's lineup featured an impressive array of talent, including Joseph Capriati, Richy Ahmed, Enzo Siragusa, Apollonia, Seb Zito, Archie Hamilton, Chris Stussy, East End Dubs, Loco Dice, Hot Since 82, Fleur Shore, Nicole Moudaber, tINI, Rossi., and many more.

THURSDAY

Do Not Sleep & BRESH

Since 2014, the relentless force known as Do Not Sleep brought to you by the Electric Ibiza crew represents Ibiza's modern underground, and is back with a bang for 2024, hosting five early summer parties at Amnesia, on three consecutive Thursdays from May 16 to May 30, and the first two Wednesdays in June.

Last year featured names Richy Ahmed, Prunk, Eats Everything, Mason Collective, Jackmaster, Ben Hemsley, Solardo, and many others, so you know only the best will come through for 2024.

Taking the reins of the latter half of the summer on Thursdays, will be the Argentinean phenomenon event brand that is BRESH.

Originating in Buenos Aires, it quickly spread across Argentina, making its mark throughout both the Americas and Europe, but most importantly of all, it’s touching down once again in the music capital of the world, Ibiza.

With a music policy centered around Reggaeton and other Spanish-language rap genres, Bresh embodies the epitome of the vibrant energy and infectious rhythms of its native.

Currently, the festivities are a staple at some of the world's largest festivals, and is scheduled for a whole four months at Amnesia, from June 6th to September 12th.

FRIDAY

Methane Presents NEO & Joseph Capriati Presents Metamorfosi

Brand new for 2024, Mathame unveils NEO, the latest performance spectacle from the Italian sibling duo, set to debut at Amnesia Ibiza on June 7.

This groundbreaking show will unfold over 8 Fridays during the summer and will later expand into a global series of events starting in autumn 2024. Details about 'NEO' remain scarce, with the only insight provided by the duo hinting at a transformative and spiritually resonant experience.

The residency, scheduled for Fridays on June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 5, September 13, 20, and 27, will captivate audiences at Amnesia Ibiza's famed Terrace, building upon their acclaimed AV:SHOW, which culminates at Tomorrowland on July 19, 'NEO' promises to be an exceptional evolution of Mathame's artistic vision.

Taking over the latter half of the summer season, Metamorfosi, curated by the ever-evolving Joseph Capriati, delves deep into the intricate layers of his evolving sound, and is back for its biggest season yet.

Scheduled to kick off on July 19 and culminate on September 6, this year's residency is expanding from five to eight. Each week, Capriati will curate a diverse lineup of guest DJs spanning across house, techno, and everything in between, not only in the Terrace, but the Club Room too.

From his early days playing Amnesia's Terrace for the likes of Sven Väth's famed Cocoon and Marco Carola's Music On, Capriati really does goes hand in hand with the famed dancehall. It just makes sense.

SATURDAY

Elrow

elrow celebrates the wild and audacious, mixing the best electronic music currently on the scene with garishly thematic, creative and fantastically executed productions, making it one of the club's busiest nights of the week. 

elrow music usually falls within the tech house region with a solid bunch of regulars such as Adam Beyer, Alisha, Archie Hamilton, Ben Hemsley, Dennis Ferrer, Eats Everything, Ewan McVicar, Fatboy Slim, Franky Rizardo, Joris Voorn, Sidney Charles, Solardo and Syreeta all represented last summer.

Exaggerated street theatre, outlandish props, crazy costumes, inflatables, confetti and over-the-top make-up are all part of the fun. It's a guaranteed night of fun.

SUNDAY

Pyramid

Amnesia's in-house underground night Pyramid is the end of the week party that's become one of Ibiza's most respected house and techno parties of all time. 

Pyramid recaptures the essence of early Ibiza parties with its focus on standout headliners, all night long dances, and cutting edge technology.

It features vast line-ups that bring not just one headliner but many different top-level talents to the world famous club and is well known for its legendary opening and closing events and regular sets from international DJ's of the underground including Four Tet, Ricardo Villalobos, Skream, Deborah De Luca, Marco Faraone, Maceo Plex, Sonja Moonear, Luciano, Ben Klock, Bicep Live, Nina Kraviz and more.

Amnesia Ibiza 2024 Residencies

Miami-born and Orlando-refined, Mateo Acosta, or Slugg as the dance floor knows him, is the real deal in a scene that never sleeps. Kicking off his journey into beats at just 15, Slugg has always had his finger on the pulse of what makes a crowd move. Drawing deep from the wells of 90s hip-hop, his music is a fresh mix of nostalgia and new-school cool, a blend that's earned him nods and playtime from the big guns in the house music scene.




When Slugg packed up from Miami to Orlando, it wasn't just a change of scenery. It was there he linked up with the House Keepers collective, a move that sparked a whole new level of game for him. Not one to just ride the wave, he launched his own label, Getbusy, a playground for his own releases and a spotlight for emerging talent that's starting to make some serious noise in the scene.




From epic festival sets that people can't stop talking about, like his unforgettable nights at Okeechobee, EDC Orlando, and his international debut in Costa Rica at BPM, to starting his own label, Slugg's story is about doing what you love and letting that drive take you places.




In an up-close chat, Slugg spills on everything from those early Miami days that lit his fire, the evolution of his sound from hip-hop-infused beats to a more refined vibe, the art of DJing that's got him hooked all over again, and the highlights that have made this ride unforgettable. Plus, he shares the scoop on Getbusy, the label born from a dream to do things his way and shine a light on the next wave of house music heroes.




What first got you into DJing and production? Was there a particular artist, track, or show that sparked your interest?




What got me into DJing and music production was definitely my love of music overall. My music taste has varied all my life, but once I got into house music, I knew this was the one I wanted to rock with. In particular, there was one event, “AMF” Miami, which was an all-ages event back in 2010 (I was 14 years old, having no business being there), and ended up seeing a bunch of Miami legends. This really sparked my interest in the scene, and I started producing music shortly after that.




Your sound has definitely evolved over the years. How would you describe your style now compared to when you first started?




My style before was definitely taking old hip-hop records and trying to replicate that feeling of when I first heard those boom bap beats in hip-hop records. Got to have that bounce! Now, I’d say it’s definitely matured a bit, with sound/instrument choice. I’ve come to terms that not everything has to be a #1 hit.




Balancing the DJ and producer roles must take some juggling. Which do you find is more your creative outlet these days?



It started with production because my gigs were not rolling in yet. Once I started getting some recognition for my releases and I started headlining events, it really made me fall back in love with the art of DJ'ing.



There’s nothing like blending some songs together and throwing different effects/acapellas on top of those and making a whole new meaning to the music. Seeing the people react too it is an INSANE feeling.




Looking back, any festival sets really stand out as career highlights so far? What made that moment so epic?




My first Okeechobe festival set was definitely a game changer and very memorable. I was the headliner on the House Keepers takeover at Incendia, and a larger act had just wrapped up at the main stage. Within 15 mins of my set, I had a crowd of over 2,000 people. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. 

My biggest crowd at a festival to date. For the duration of my set, I was able to hold the crowd and converted a lot of fans that night. My other two memorable ones I’d say would be opening up Neon Garden at EDC Orlando for Factory93 & my first international gig at BPM COSTA RICA. I’d say those are my top three for sure!




Moving cities was a big change. How'd you get linked up with House Keepers collective in Orlando?




Moving from Miami to Orlando was a HUGE part of my success. You would think me leaving Miami for a smaller city like Orlando would be counterproductive; it was legit the complete opposite. I was attending the HK events because of the talent they were bringing through the city and eventually got introduced to Austin Hammer, who took a shot on me by signing my music to the label, which in turn got me playing the parties. From that point forward, there was no looking back. I owe my success so far to the scene in Orlando.




What led to the decision to start your own label, Getbusy? Was it important to have that creative control? What are you hoping to achieve this year with your imprint?




Starting my label, Getbusy, was definitely something my partner Leo and I have dreamed of doing for a very long time.



I started gaining some hype around the Slugg project, and we thought it’d be right to start the brand/label early in my career so that I could let it grow with me from the early stages. This year, our focus is on quality and showcasing emerging talent, not only in the US but internationally as well. We are very excited about the music that is already signed, and our BUSYTOOLS (free download/edits) series has been making a lot of noise with the most recent releases.




Which artist that released on Getbusy is someone we should keep an eye out for?




It’s hard to choose one artist; this is like choosing your favorite kid as a parent. But I’ll give you three artists that I think everyone should be on the lookout for: Nate Chapman, Gian Carlos, & Brayden Terzo. Big stuff coming from these guys. Productions from them are always top-notch.




There are so many legends in the game - any producers, past or present, who still give you inspiration?




There are so many producers that give me inspiration; to name a few, I’d say Rossi., Inland Knights, DJ Premier, RZA, BUTCH, Jesse Perez, Phil Weeks, DJ SNEAK, GUTI, the list can go on forever.




You’ve played a lot of sick venues these past couple of years. Which one has been the most memorable and why?




The sickest venue and by far my favorite to play every single time is Floyd Miami, the basement right under Club Space. There’s something about that room that brings the best out of me every single time. Smaller, intimate room and phenomenal sound… I can't go wrong with that!




Which city has the best crowd energy?




This might be biased because I’m from there, but Miami has to be my favorite crowd to play so far. Maybe it’s just because every time I play down there, it’s like a homecoming. I see all my friends from when I was growing up down there. Energy is always at an all-time high.




If you could spin back-to-back with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?




MARCO CAROLA is the only answer for this haha.




If music wasn't your path, what other career path would you take?




To be completely honest, I have no idea what I would do if I wasn't in music. I’ve been taking an interest in the kitchen lately, so maybe a chef? Haha, who knows.




Without fail, what's the one track that is considered your secret weapon?




I have a couple, but definitely Ben Williams - Drop It Like It’s Hot. Please go look that up and thank me later. Been in rotation since I started my career in music.




If you could revive one classic from the 90s hip-hop era, what album are you bringing back?

When did you get started with music, and at what point did you start taking it seriously?




I began making music around 10 years ago. I started with a jailbroken version of FL Studio mobile on my iPod touch and eventually was given a laptop with a copy of FL Studio 10. It has been an on-and-off journey, as I would always treat music as a “plan B,” even though I knew it was my passion. I think finishing my undergrad at the University of Central Florida lit the fire I always had for music, and starting a career as a Teacher/Coach made me realize quickly the 9-5 lifestyle was not for me.




How do you blend your Dominican and Puerto Rican roots with different music styles to create your own sound?




I think it all stems from the inspiration I get from listening to music from my culture. I am always crate digging and listening to classic Caribbean artists like Wilfredo Vargas and Frankie Ruiz, but also grew up listening to 80’s freestyle, thanks to my pops. I’ve always loved Afro-Latino percussion, from Congas and Tamboras to Timbales and Campanas, so I make sure to incorporate those elements into the music I create.




Can you describe an experience that made you realize you wanted to pursue music professionally?




An experience I remember vividly that influenced my desire to pursue music was my first Electronic concert when I was 16. Thanks to a close friend of mine, Tristan, I was introduced to Steve Aoki. We went to his concert at UCF, and I remember arriving late to meet up with my friends. As I walked into the Arena, Aoki’s “Pursuit of Happiness” remix started playing, the crowd was roaring, the music was blaring, and the light show was absolutely insane. 



I remember standing at the top of the seats, completely forgot I was supposed to meet with my friends, and was soaking in the moment. Seeing Steve Aoki throwing cakes and jumping on stage with a sea of people going crazy made me realize, I wanted a moment like that with me on stage and hundreds singing one of my songs.




How do you stay connected to your roots while appealing to a global audience?




I believe that continuing to be true to myself and creating music I genuinely enjoy will attract those with similar tastes as me. Also, I’m Latino… Latin is Pop… Pop is worldwide ;)




What was it like sharing a stage with Gordo, and how has he influenced your music and career?




Sharing a stage with Gordo is nothing but surreal. I went from seeing him GA at Taraka Orlando last year to going b2b with him in a cave in Ecuador a year later. Gordo has always been an inspiration, especially being an Afro-Latino DJ, playing and producing the music HE enjoys on some of the world's biggest stages made me feel like if he can do it, so can I.




Aside from Gordo, which artists have you drawn inspiration from?




I’ve drawn inspiration from so many artists; if I were to list them, this would be a never-ending list haha. But some artists I get inspiration from currently have to be Keinemusik, Caleb Calloway, Pablo Fierro, Maz, and Vxsion.




How has the success of your songs on TikTok impacted people noticing your music?




TikTok is such a powerful platform to post on. People are dedicated to finding songs once they are teased and will generate traffic to all other socials. My previous songs' streams have significantly gone up, and I’ve created new fans from older music of mine.




With over 2 million Spotify streams, how do you plan to leverage this success for your future projects?




It is definitely cool to look at and monitor the progress, but I try not to let that number get to my head. I now have millions watching and know it’s important to make my fans happy with releasing songs they will enjoy. Having millions anticipating future releases definitely creates some pressure, but I'm confident my fans will enjoy what’s next. I don’t see it so much as leverage but as an indicator to stay consistent and continue to put in the work.




Can you share a memorable moment from any of your sets or the parties you played that made you love what you do even more than you already do?




There are so many more memories to make, but one that will always stand out was spinning at Attic Nightclub with one of my best friends, @LESSAINTT, during EDC Orlando mini music week. We had a flawless night, the club was packed, the energy was like no other, and the people were singing the songs all night. 



I remember we played “Don’t You Worry Child,” and when it dropped, the CO2 cannons came out, and we were jumping up and down with smiles from ear to ear as if we were playing Ultra MainStage. Those moments being shared with people you love and creating memories for others that go out to have a good time is what keeps me going.




What’s the backstory behind the album you dropped in 2023? How long were you working on ‘Caras’ for, and where did you draw inspiration from?




Caras has been an album concept of mine since 2018. I’ve been journaling ideas I've had for my album since, jotting down genres and song titles. During COVID, I hit a rut and wasn’t making much music, but the little bit I did turned into samples and concepts for Caras. I started arranging the album in 2021 and dedicated my free time from fall of 2022 to summer of 2023 to finish it all. I would work on my album in-between my athletes' baseball games and even in the classroom on days my students wouldn’t have “outside days.”



“Caras,” which is Spanish for “Faces,” is about the faces I wear in relation to my music. It incorporates inspiration from Reggaeton to Afro-beat and even uses my own vocals in the majority of the album. Every song has its own unique “Face” or vibe that progresses from getting into my car and heading to the beach (Amanecer Intro) into a sunset (Midsummer Interlude) onto the late-night drive back from it all, questioning “Am I Enough”. My album takes inspiration from Drake, Bad Bunny, and Rauw Alejandro, while paying homage to Reggaeton and the Afro & Latino Culture.




Out of all the tracks you have out, which one is your favorite?




They are all my babies, but it would have to be between “Am I Enough?” or “Pa Que Goce.” Both on my album Caras. “Am I enough?” was the question I would ask myself redundantly during the process of choosing a career or music; it's also the only song I have ever made a music video for. “Pa Que Goce” has a mixture of two of my favorite genres, Reggaeton and House, and is a complete vibe. They both use my vocals, I was always insecure about, but it's been amazing seeing how people respond to those in particular.




In what ways do you engage with your fans, and how important is this interaction to you?




I try to engage with my fans as much as I can on social media. It gets difficult at times because I get so many notifications from all platforms that I don’t want to live on socials but make sure when I get the chance I reply to them and even give some advice when they ask because I know what it's like trying to be seen by artists you admire.




Are there any artists or producers you dream of collaborating with in the future?




I dream of collaborations every day, definitely not limited to, Drake, The Weeknd, Rauw, Bad Bunny, Tainy, Feid, Rosalía. If you can put me on to any of these, don’t hesitate to reach out haha.




If you could only listen to three tracks for the rest of your life, which ones would it be and why?



Major Lazer, Dj Snake, MØ - Lean On (such a feel-good song and reminds me of some great times)

The Weeknd, Drake - The Zone (Two of the goats, need I say more?)

Dimension Latina - Llorarás (I always have this song stuck in my head for some reason; it's obviously a classic and a banger)




When do you feel the most at peace?




I feel the most at peace when I am home, sitting on my patio, soaking up some rays from the sun while writing or listening to new music. Nature and music are my peace.
