How Tini Gessler's Elrow Residency Kicked Her Career into High Gear
From the first time she set foot behind the decks, it was clear that Tini Gessler had a bright future ahead as a DJ and producer. But when party brand elrow caught wind of the spark inside her, they entered into a partnership that ignited a full-fledged fire.
First, a little background. Born in Germany and raised in Sitges, Spain, Gessler has always loved electronic music — although she didn’t try her hand at DJing until 2013. She initially cut her teeth performing at house parties. Before long, though, she locked in a three-year residency at Pacha Barcelona.
But this wasn’t the residency that marked the biggest turning point in Tini Gessler’s career. It was her partnership with elrow that introduced her to the worldwide conversation on dance music.
“I started playing at elrow on their Ker Beach stage two or three times a year,” Gessler told Magnetic Magazine in 2018. “Gradually the gigs started increasing and then they introduced me as a resident. Now I tour across the world with them playing stages from Tomorrowland to Amnesia — I feel so lucky!”
“It felt not real. I was excited but also really nervous,” she told Electronic Groove the following year. “Being a resident means you share the same stage as some of the biggest DJs in the world. I’m really happy with the progress and I’m learning from everyone I have the pleasure to play with.”
With a long and illustrious history as a fixture of the global dance music landscape, elrow certainly has the potential to launch one’s career. With its family roots extending all the way back to Café Josepet in the mid-1800s, the brand was launched in kind in 2008 — first as The Row, which evolved into Row14 before arriving at elrow in 2010. It quickly outgrew Spain and now includes events in 33 countries across six continents.
Tini Gessler, too, has become something of a worldwide sensation in her own right. There’s nonetheless no doubt that she will always remember the elrow residency that propelled her DJ career into the stratosphere.
