Dan Shake, whose real name is Daniel Rose-Weir, is a producer and DJ from the United Kingdom. Taking an interest in music as an early teenager, Rose-Weir began experimenting with grime and dubstep, and eventually landed comfortably in the sonic sphere of disco, funk, and house. His stage presence matches his music’s vibrant energy, with his natural vibe proving to be one of his greatest dance floor weapons.

Originally looking to be more on the business/behind-the-scene side of things, Rose-Weir sent out hundreds of emails in attempt to secure an industry job. This led to an opportunity working with Outlook and Dimensions promoting events in Leeds during his university years. He spent most of his nights handing out flyers as well as studying how the shows were ran and what the DJs were doing behind the decks.

During this time, his music palate expanded and he discovered Detroit house music, which heavily influences his sound now. J Dilla, a legendary Detroit hip-hop producer, is to credit for inspiring Rose-Weir to start creating and performing music seriously.

As he molded into the industry as a creative in the early 2010s, Rose-Weir was offered a full-time gig with the Outlook and Dimensions crew helping with their events. He eventually dropped out of university to help put on events, starting with Outlook’s inaugural Croatian festival and Dimension’s debut event. He spent a lot of this time recording live sets for DJs such as Nina Kraviz and 3 Chairs.

Through his work at festivals and events, Rose-Weir started to get his name out there as a musician. He passed out CDs with his own original music, which eventually landed in the hands of Detroit’s own Moodymann. The 3 Chair’s member changed the trajectory of Dan Shake’s whole career, signing his 

 mixtape to his Mahogani imprint and solidifying his place as one to watch.

For over a decade now, Dan Shake has performed around the world in places like Beirut, Seoul, Florence, Cluj, Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne, Malta, Hong Kong, Medellin, and Buenos Aires. Now, he is in more demand than ever, with performances coming up at Paradise City Festival, Love International, Westival, Fields of Fantasy, Suncebeat Festival, and many more.
