We're excited to welcome Denis Sulta to the Chocolate Factory on October 18th for another outstanding Gray Area show! Denis Sulta, born Hector Barbour, has become one of the most respected names in the house and techno scene.

Hailing from Glasgow, Sulta’s career has received widespread industry recognition. He’s appeared on the covers of Mixmag and DJ Mag, won DJ Mag’s 'Best DJ' award in the "Best of British" series, and was selected for BBC Radio 1’s Residency, further impacting his role in the dance music world. In 2016, he made an impressive debut on Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ Poll, entering at #26 as the highest new entry that year, a clear indicator of his growing influence.

Beyond his individual performances, Sulta has expanded his reach with his Sulta Selects imprint and events, which have gained a strong international following. These parties, known for their energetic atmosphere and cutting-edge lineups, have sold out large venues such as The Usher Hall in Edinburgh and The Telegraph Building in Belfast. His Sulta Selects residency at Ibiza’s Amnesia has been particularly influential, presenting top DJs and bringing fresh talent into the spotlight.

Sulta's skill to move and groove audiences has landed him slots at some of the most renowned venues and festivals. From memorable sets at Circoloco in Ibiza, Timewarp, and Awakenings, to closing performances at Panorama Bar in Berlin, Sulta has repeatedly proven his talent behind the decks. His appearances on Boiler Room have attracted nearly 5 million views across three sets, underscoring his widespread appeal.

Recent appearances at events like EDC Vegas, Cercle Festival 2024, Loveland Festival, Beat-Herder Festival, and Elrow Ibiza continue to confirm his place as one of the most in-demand and valuable DJs on any lineup today.

Sulta's breakthrough came with the track “It’s Only Real”, released on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. The track's melodic energy and genre-blending style quickly propelled him into the spotlight. His early work at Glasgow’s Rubadub record store and regular sets at the legendary Sub Club were instrumental in shaping his skills. Collaborating with local selectors and DJs laid the groundwork for his fast rise.

As his sound evolved, Sulta released music on respected labels like Numbers, and created his own label, Sulta Selects. His approach to production—combining punchy beats with groovy rhythms—has gained him critical praise and positioned him as a leading figure among his peers.

In 2019, Sulta released the EP "Aye Spoake Te Sumwuhn & They Listenhd" on Ninja Tune, which revealed a more introspective and personal side to his music. After a short break from production, Sulta returned in 2023 with the track “World of Flies”, which marked his artistic growth. Released independently, this single highlighted not only his skills as a producer but also his talents as a lyricist, vocalist, and songwriter.
