Event Recommendation
Ibiza’s fiercest residency returns for a massive 22-week run in 2022. Glitterbox runs religiously every Sunday from May - October at Hï Ibiza. Featuring jaw-dropping production and exceptional disco and house music, Glitterbox is a joyous celebration of LGBT and club-kid culture.
On August 21, Basement Jaxx, Catz ‘n Dogs, Jamie 3:26, Jellybean Benitez, Kenny Dope, Melon Bomb, and Melvo Baptiste grace the stage. Accompanied by dancers, drag queens, club kids, and every kind of party-goer, Glitterbox hopes to give you the experience of a lifetime.
A Glitterbox regular, Basement Jaxx are as multi-dimensional as they are talented. The Grammy-winning duo rose to popularity in the underground house scene of the 90s. Their party-flavored blend of UK garage, electro, and house keeps dance floors alight all night long.
The two Polish producers behind Catz ‘n Dogs have made a lasting impression on the house music community. Their two record labels–Pets Recordings and Step Recordings–showcase a wide variety of music, all with the uncanny ability to pump up a dance floor.
Jamie 3:26 is a legend in Chicago house music. His one criterion for a track: it just has to groove. Combining house, funk, disco, and world music, Jamie 3:26 is capturing the essence of eras gone by.
John “Jellybean” Benitez is perhaps most famously known as the executive producer of Studio 54 Radio. A bonafide king of disco, he has produced and remixed artists like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and the Pointer Sisters.
As one-half of Masters at Work, Kenny Dope helped to connect the underground to the mainstream. His blend of house, boogie, and hip-hop has kept him busy releasing bangers and playing superstar clubs over the years.
Local Ibiza collective Melon Bomb will also make an appearance. Some say their blend of disco and house “encapsulates the very spirit of the island.”
Lastly, the “voice of Glitterbox” Melvo Baptiste shares his iconic fusion of funk, soul, house, and disco. As a premier tastemaker, it’s no wonder he’s been tapped to do A&R for Glitterbox’s alma mater, Defected Records.
