Overview
Lucien Nicolet weaves both his Swiss birthright and Chilean upbringing into his tropically infused, drum-laden, hypnotic beats. The DJ/producer, known more commonly by his stage moniker, Luciano, came into himself in the local clubs of Santiago, Chile. While at first, it took a while for audiences to warm up to his sound, he soon developed a loyal following and became regarded as both a one-to-watch and a boundary-pusher in Chile’s dance music scene.
After taking the scene by storm in his home country, Luciano made the move back to Europe in hopes of expanding his career—and sound. This step catapulted his name to that of a worldwide act. Now, he’s performed worldwide, in locations such as Tokyo, Peru, Sao Paulo, and London. He’s also a regular act on Ibiza, with performances at renowned venues like Ushuaïa and Amnesia under his belt, as well as a running residency at Pacha in Barcelona. He’s had releases on imprints like Mental Groove, Perlon, and Peacefrog, and in 2003, Nicolet also founded his own label, Cadenza Records.
Despite his clear devotion to the dance music and techno worlds, Luciano is not one-track minded, and always finds time to channel his good fortune into a way to give back. Inspired by the time he and his family spent with members of the Arhuaco and Kogi tribes in Colombia, Luciano founded a charity, One Coin for Life. The overall goal of the organization is to help indigenous communities around the world preserve their native cultures and enhance public awareness of these peoples. The organization has thus far built schools for the two aforementioned tribes in Colombia, as well as sending funds to orphans in Kenya’s Vipingo Village and to Colombia’s Moronto School.
