Overview

After two sold-out headline shows in Brooklyn in 2022, we've decided to team up with tech house phenom, Cloonee, one more time for a massive headline show. On May 6th, 2023, Gray Area is taking over the Knockdown Center in Queens for our biggest show yet, featuring the chunky, funky beats of this Beatport Top 10 Best-Selling Tech House Artist.

We've secured an iconic space in New York with a deep history for this one-off event. And we've asked Cloonee to bring some friends for the ride. The event arrives just in time for some of the best weather in New York, so you won't want to miss this chance to catch Cloonee rock the house.

Cloonee has spent the last two years dominating tech house. Even before emerging from the lockdowns of the pandemic, he was minting his place on the dancefloor. Releases like "What Ya Want," his debut on Chris Lake's Black Book Records, and "Sun Goes Down," his slinky percussion-laden reinterpretation of Classius' "Sound of Violence," established his stripped and sexy approach to house music.

These massive wins may have been the impetus for collaboration with the one and only Chris Lake and a litany of club and festival appearances worldwide in 2022, including Club Space in Miami, Amnesia, Ushuaia, Eden in Ibiza, ARC Music Festival, EDC Vegas, and Bonaroo. However, Cloonee has been one of the top names on the playlists of industry giants since he dropped his Beatport chart-topping debut EP on elrow Music just five years ago. He quickly gained support from scene veterans with subsequent releases on labels like elrow Music, Lee Foss' Repopulate Mars, and Apollo 84's Twisted Fusion.

With the recent launch of his label Hellbent Records, Cloonee is taking his skills as a top-line selector one step further. With less than a dozen releases under its belt, Hellbent is already one of Beatport's top 20 best-selling tech house labels. Tracks like Cloonee and Brisotti collab "Tripasia" have become instant dancefloor-destroying hits.

Who else is joining Cloonee for his biggest headlining show to date? Like fine wine and good cheese, MELÉ's top-shelf Afro tribal house pairs perfectly with Cloonee's chunky minimal tech. The British talent will amp up the energy with a set full of thunderous kicks, pattering percussion, and throw-back-tinged funk.

While he's been steady rockin' since the breakthrough success of his 2015 chart-topping anthem "Ambience," the last few years for MELÉ have been the most outstanding. Releases like "Conga Mode" in 2020 and "Groove La Afrika" in 2021, both on his Club Bad imprint, thrust him into the Afro house spotlight. In 2022 he topped the charts again with his exhilarating Busta Rhymes sampling Diplo collab "Right 2 Left." All of this led to him becoming the #10 best-selling Afro house artist on Beatport and a staple of the global club and festival circuit with appearances at elrow (he blew us away!), EDC Vegas, and Defected's events all over the world.

The Knockdown Center Flushing, Queens

Taking its name from the Knock-down door frames it produced in the 1950s as the Manhattan Door Factory, the 50,000-square-foot building is now a state-of-the-art hub for culture and music. Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, BICEP, Hot Since 82, and Damian Lazarus’ legendary GET LOST have filled the space with the heart-stopping sounds of house and techno.
