Doubleheader with De La Swing & Jean Pierre
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
Spanish DJ and producer De La Swing, née Domingo Bellot, returns to Brooklyn on October 7 for a Double Header with New York City's own Jean Pierre at Quantum. Doubleheader is a new concept from Gray Area that sees two artists coming together to build synergy. Each artist will play a solo set and then close the night out with an epic B2B. Be prepared to stay late so you don't miss a minute of the action.
De La Swing
A staple of the European scene and longtime resident of the infamous international party brand elrow, De La Swing's trademark, soulful deep-tech-meets-underground-tech-house sound has made him a crowd favorite at festivals and club nights across the planet. And now he's bringing the funk to New York.
He established a unique versatility behind the decks early in his career when he struck out at 16 playing drum & bass at clandestine raves in Madrid. As he moved into house music, he became a well-respected core member of the Spanish dance music community, sharing the stage with Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, and Joseph Capriati. And by 2010, he had been asked to join the team that helped turn elrow from a weekly Sunday afters into an international success story. As one of elrow's most seasoned selectors, he's regularly called upon to throw down on the decks for epic B2B sessions with the likes of Skream, Eats Everything, Nathan Barato, wAFF, and Bastian Bux.
His equally impressive skills as a producer only bolster his penchant for hyping up a dancefloor as a DJ. He's scored impressive releases like "Voodoo Step" on Toolroom and his funky remix of DJ Chus and David Penn's "We Play House," however some of his most impactful work has been at the helm of elrow's record labels. As the label group's music director, his expert ear has helped guide its direction from a fledgling brand to a worldwide powerhouse with releases from Cloonee, CamelPhat, and Chelina Manuhutu.
De La Swing brings with him years of experience conducting the direction of the dancefloor and an impeccably curated sound that bridges the gap between the swinging rhythmic groove of Spanish tech house and the soulful funk of deep tech. He will surely be setting the dancefloor alight at Quantum.
Jean Pierre
Queens-born, Miami-based Jean Pierre has had a 15-year career in dance music studded with accolades befitting his status as a veteran producer and DJ of the underground. A diverse and knowledgeable selector, he is unique in his ability to make the walls vibrate with heart-stopping big room techno and bring the emotional reverence of deep, melodic house.
He burst onto the scene with a landmark debut release on Saeed Younan's Younan Music, putting him squarely in the sights of the international party circuit. He continues to brilliantly translate the soul of house and techno into dancefloor-rocking gems through his releases on venerated imprints like Cuttin' Headz, Hot Creations, Rawthentic Music, and Defected Records. With support from the likes of Marco Carola, The Martinez Brothers, Luciano, and Steve Lawler, it's clear that his unique and invigorating sound has made a global impact.
Known for his technically sound and body-moving marathon sets, Jean Pierre is a staple of the international club and festival circuit. He's been a regular at Electric Zoo, Avant Gardner, The BPM Festival, and Club Space. His global impact is just as impressive, with frequent appearances in Ibiza, Amsterdam, London, and throughout Central and South America.
