Solid Grooves Closing Party
Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Spain
Event Recommendation
This year, the UK house and techno label Solid Grooves announced a new home for their summer Ibiza residency. For the 2022 sessions–branded Solid Grooves Motel–the collective is taking over Ibiza’s original underground club, DC-10. With the party’s original location Privilege no longer open, Solid Grooves needed a new spot to party. Now, the 17-week residency is taking place at one of the best-known clubs on the planet, made famous by hedonistic after-hours sessions and all-day partying. Running from 11 pm to 7 am on September 29, the seasonal closing party of Solid Grooves will offer its well-known mix of tech and minimal house to its cult following. This week, regulars of Solid Grooves Michael Bibi, Dennis Cruz and PAWSA joined by ANOTR, Ben Sterling, Blackchild, and Silvie Loto, plus a few special unannounced guests. The duo ANOTR went from playing in an attic in Amsterdam to now being praised for ushering in a new era of dance music in the Netherlands. When their debut EP Strobe was released to Defected Records in 2015, it quickly became a summer anthem. Their fresh talent and persistent drive has helped them rise to the top not only in their home country but worldwide. Ben Sterling took much inspiration from his family’s collection of retro disco records. Combined with his love of classic Chicago house and a bit of acid flair, and you’ve got the iconic Sterling sound. His tracks have gained support from some of the biggest DJs in the world. Jamie Jones once played seven unreleased Sterling tracks in one set, and it’s easy to see why. As a proud member of the Solid Grooves team, Blackchild will showcase his uber-groovy blend of tech house and minimal techno alongside some of his best friends and biggest supporters at Solid Grooves during this season’s closing set. Dennis Cruz has been noted as Beatport’s third-best tech house artist and is a pillar of the underground house and tech community. He’s been a key player in the Solid Grooves lineup this summer, playing B2Bs with PAWSA, Michael Bibi, and Nicole Moudaber. Eddy M’s unique style of tech house and techno is as much influenced by iconic 90s hip hop as it is by his background in classical jazz. This Italian is now based out of Spain and will play multiple dates with the Solid Grooves gang this season. Solid Grooves founder Michael Bibi is a proven tech house master and astute entrepreneur. When labels didn’t want to release his tracks, he again gathered his moxie and launched his own imprint, Solid Grooves Records. DJ PAWSA co-founded Solid Grooves Records alongside Michael Bibi. He’s a proven expert at controlling the crowd and uses his unique tech-house flare to guide them towards total dance delusion. He sits at the top of this week’s Solid Grooves lineup like the dancefloor patriarch he is. Italian producer Silvie Loto isn’t afraid to explore and take risks. For the past decade, this DJ has held–first and foremost–the ethos that house music and live sets should be a journey, not an exhibition of showy talent. Each set of hers is done with meticulous care and lots of love.
