STORIES New York

Overview
BBC Radio 1 host and DJ/producer Sarah Story brings her STORIES imprint stateside for an open-air club takeover at H0L0 Yard on August 15th. Following major showcases across Europe including Thuishaven (Amsterdam), fabric (London), Drumsheds, DC-10, and Warehouse Project, this NYC appearance marks one of her most anticipated U.S. bookings of the summer.
Launched in 2024, STORIES is Sarah’s platform for record releases, club nights, and community-led events. The concept ties directly to her surname—centered on the idea that "everyone has a story to tell"—and serves as a space for DJs, producers, and creatives to share theirs through music. The brand has already hosted stages at Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Snowbombing Festival, while welcoming artists like Gerd Janson, Matrefakt, Lu.Re, Serenda, and Demi Riquísimo into the fold.

Also playing the party alongside Sarah Story is DJ Minx, a foundational figure in Detroit’s house music scene. With a career spanning over three decades, Minx is the founder of the long-running Women on Wax collective and label, established to spotlight and support women in dance music. She began her DJing journey in the early ‘90s, earning early recognition through residencies at Detroit clubs like Motor and broadcasts on WGPR, the city’s first Black-owned radio station.
Minx has played nearly every major Detroit venue, with global appearances at clubs and festivals including Movement Detroit, Berghain, Boiler Room, and Printworks. In 2021, she was named one of Mixmag’s Top 20 DJs of the year, and that same year released the critically praised track “Do It All Night” on He.She.They, later remixed by Honey Dijon. She’s also featured on labels like Nervous, Planet E, and Fabric Records.
Her sets are known for drawing from classic house, techno, and minimal, all delivered with seamless control and deep musical knowledge. DJ Minx is more than a local hero—she’s a respected selector who helped lay the groundwork for generations of artists to follow.
Also joining the STORIES fun is Dennis Free, a DJ and producer known for high-energy, groove-heavy sets that blend classic house with percussive dance, ghetto tech, and uptempo club rhythms. With roots in Oakland and NYC, Dennis has earned his reputation through standout performances at venues like fabric and Colour Factory in London, playing alongside names like A-Trak, Loco Dice, Moodymann, and HoneyLuv.

He's also a founding member of Brooklyn’s Level III Collective, a grassroots crew that started in a living room and evolved into one of the city’s most forward-pushing party movements—spotlighting rising artists and deep cuts through both events and radio.
Expect a no-frills lineup curated for dance floor function, quality production, and forward-leaning club sounds. With a reputation for tightly programmed events that champion talent without bias, this installment at H0L0 promises a proper taste of what STORIES is building.
