Yulia Niko w. Emanuel Satie & Guests
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
Sometimes breaking the rules and a cheeky white lie can work in your favor. In Yulia Niko’s case, she has her 16 year old self to thank for what turned out to be the start of her ravishing musical career. Fast forward almost two decades, her achievements are copious, and we’re lucky enough to have her headlining at the Roof of Superior Ingredients on April 21st.
“I told my parents I was going for a sleepover”. In reality, she was catching a flight to Moscow, to play at the best club in her home country of Russia. From this moment, she realized her pursuit for musical stardom was the only thing that mattered. Now, she’s living her dreams in Berlin and is a pioneering force within the realms of the coveted melodic minimal sound.
With a style that incorporates steady beats, detailed layering, and the occasional spell-binding vocal, she now travels the globe showcasing her minimal-melodic sonics at parties such as Jamie Jones’ Paradise, as well as being a resident at Berlin’s famed underground venue Watergate. Niko also boasts a number of successful releases on highly influential labels including Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical.
Taking original influence from more hard-hitting artists such as Pig&Dan and Stephan Bodzin, in more recent years she credits Damian Lazarus, and Luciano as her number one influence, which is often mirrored in her oscillating sounds and even her stage presence.
With each performance she channels her desire to harness the transformative power of music into her sets, leaving dance floors worldwide full of life and gratification with her melodic productions that teeter between house and techno.
She has gone on to grace the underground sphere with her vinyl-only imprint 'Tochno Techno', which showcases a ‘no-BS attitude and hours of top quality minimal techno beats’. Now a globally recognised artist with a packed touring schedule and impeccable discography, Yulia has just unveiled her debut album TWINSOUL via Armada Music, which explores an intimate and brooding milestone in her musical journey…
Perfectly complementing the visionaries oscillating house and techno sounds, we’ve also reeled in Germany’s award-winning Emanuel Satie, with his groove-infused melodic house sounds.
With a number of acclaimed EPs on labels such as Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour, Sven Väth’s Cocoon, and Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, his work often hits high on the charts and gains significant support from fellow DJs and producers including Solomun and Keinemsuik around the world.
Joining the party from the streets of Colombia, to the heart of New York City's nightlife, is AleXander Gentil. Gentil has been spinning his unique blend of futuristic beats and soul-stirring frequencies into the soundtrack of the underground. Drawing on a life lived between two electric cultures, AleXander brings a daring, experimental edge to his craft, merging the worlds of sound engineering, production, and DJing with an effortless cool.
Among his standout achievements is the groove-packed double-vinyl remix of Craig Richard’s “Making Ends Meet,” a collaborative effort with Taimur that breathes new life into a nearly forgotten classic, showcasing his genius in genre fusion.
