Defected is one of the most prominent and respected house music brands in the world, and that brand would be nothing without Sam Divine. Known as The First Lady of Defected, she started their street team in Ibiza, headed up their radio show, and she’s played numerous Defected events.

But Divine’s influence goes so much further than Defected. She is a vital figure in the UK house who has remixed some of the best and played some of the biggest stages in the world, and it all started in her mom’s shed.

Divine had some belt drive turntables in there while she was broadcasting a pirate radio show from her bedroom. She would use both set ups to explore the vast record collection she was accumulating from working in record stores Spin Central in her hometown of Weston-super-Mare and Chemical Records in Bristol.

Divine happened to cross paths with then Defected Radio host, Aaron Ross, in the early 00s, who took her to Ibiza for the first time. Like so many starry-eyed dance fans before her, a visit to Ibiza set her on the path to greatness. She’s held residencies at the best clubs on the island including. Pacha, Mambo, Amnesia, Eden and Ushuaïa.

Today she is holding her own in the scene alongside all the other major players through her label, her own branded events, and her productions.

The imprint, entitled DVINE Sounds, started in 2015 and enjoys music from Black V Neck, Amine Edge & DANCE, Nautica and more. Divine has taken the events to hotspots like ADE and a hosted stage at We Are FSTVL.

In terms of production Divine is known for remixes as well as original works. From a joint EP with CASSIMM to a remix of the legendary Junior Sanchez, don’t expect to stop hearing from her any time soon.
