Dombresky
Overview
Dombresky at Superior Ingredients for Gray Area 2022
There's something supremely satisfying about a Dombresky set, the joyous hands-up moments, the disco-tinged synths, and the big basslines. The French DJ and producer is a master at bringing massive energy and immaculate track selection to every dancefloor he holds court over. We're excited to bring him back to New York again on April 1 at our new favorite Manhattan hotspot, Musica.
Dombresky's latest release, "IRLY (I Really Love You)," is the perfect example of the radiant energy he brings to the dancefloor. Pulsing with a weighty bassline, simmering strings, and an uplifting vocal from Sue Chaloner's 1991 "I Wanna Thank You," Dom brings us back to a time when French house reigned supreme. Nothing but smiles when this one hits the speakers.
And that's what's most compelling about Dombresky. His sunny positivity was always a shining part of his brand since he emerged on Fools Gold Records with his debut EP, Reaching Perfection. The three tracker represented an earlier, more bass-forward phase in his career, but when listening to both "Overtime" and "Pass Me The Lighter," the hallmarks of what we now consider "classic" Dombresky are all there: the bounce, groove, and nostalgia meets new-school club sensibility. By 2018 and 2019, with the release of "Rave Alarm" with Noizu and "Soul Sacrifice" on his own Process Rocords, Dombresky was leaning into the funk hard.
He's since become one of dance music's most prolific champions of a style that triumphantly recalls a more classic sound. While his contemporaries moved to tech and bass house, Dombresky found inspiration in the roots of French touch, Chicago house, and proper disco. Hits like piano house favorite "Down Low," Latin house banger "El Beso," and "Bubblin'" were widely supported by industry figureheads like HUGEL, Fatboy Slim, Roger Sanchez, and Diplo. Furthermore, they've kept Dom dominating the Beatport Top 100.
As a DJ, Dombresky is on another level. Before he embraced dance music, he was a hip-hop DJ, and his skills behind the decks reflect a handle on the art of DJing only a turntablist has. He's a regular on the worldwide festival circuit, appearing at CRSSD, EDC, Creamfields Chilé, and Snowbombing. In addition, he's a voracious club demon dropping heat everywhere from Printworks in London to Club Space in Miami and Amnesia in Ibiza.
The last time we had Dombresky was an all-out banger featuring two sets for two sold-out crowds. We only get him for one set this time, so be sure to secure your spot on the dancefloor for a night with our favorite Frenchman, Dombresky.
