Kyle Watson Open Air with Truth x Lies + Guests

South African DJ and producer Kyle Watson is in a class of his own. His sound brims with throbbing, low-end basslines and off-kilter, funky sound design; no one does it as he does. It's been over a year since we were last blown away by one of his incredible DJ sets, and Gray Area is excited to welcome Kyle back to Brooklyn on June 18 on The Roof at Superior Ingredients alongside Truth x Lies, Hyde, and Malcom Zeller.

Kyle rotates in his own sphere. His ability to effortlessly occupy a space between ass-shakin' tech house and sweltering bass house, with deep, soulful, and nostalgic notes, has turned heads and made him a regular on esteemed labels like Dirtybird, Armada, hau5trap, Insomniac, This Ain't Bristol, and of course his own tastemaking Box Of Cats imprint.

Watson's genre-defying music has created ground-shaking moments in house. His debut album, Into The Morning, was a masterpiece, blending sweeping melodics with raw, gritty basslines. It boldly declared that Kyle Watson's sound, while often replicated, could not be duplicated. He's continued to produce critically acclaimed music like "Magic Carpet," and "The Reason," earning him widespread support from the likes of Diplo, Chris Lake, and Gorgon City —all of whom have released his music on their industry-leading record labels.

One of South Africa's most potent exports, Kyle's reach extends thousands of miles beyond his native shores. He's sold-out shows, headlined tours, and left festival-goers dumbfounded from London to Sydney. Whether performing for packed crowds in the Yuma at Coachella, the iconic Brooklyn Mirage, or the premiere West Coast dance festival CRSSD, he always keeps dancers on their toes with a bag full of forward-thinking, sub-shattering beats.

To help prime the dancefloor for Kyle, we've invited New York's Truth X Lies to the decks. For nearly a decade, Ian Bertles and Ryan Howard have been serving their wonky body-moving beats. The boys have a fierce catalog of solid grooves that have seen release on labels like Insomniac, Matroda's Terminal Underground, hau5trap, Dirtybird, and more.

We've also got New York's young Malcolm Zeller on deck. In a few short years has proven he can hold his own amongst the heavy hitters in the house scene. His energetic rolling releases have seen support from luminaries and mainstage mainstays like James Hype, Mau P, and Roger Sanchez. And with an upcoming release on Noizu's Techne, he's on track to set dancefloors ablaze worldwide.
