Event Recommendation
This year, the UK house and techno label Solid Grooves announced a new home for their summer Ibiza residency. For the 2022 sessions–branded Solid Grooves Motel–the collective is taking over Ibiza’s original underground club, DC-10. With the party’s original location Privilege no longer open, Solid Grooves needed a new spot to party. Now, the 17-week residency is taking place at one of the best-known clubs on the planet, made famous by hedonistic after-hours sessions and all-day partying.
Running from 11 pm to 7 am on September 8, Solid Grooves will offer its well-known mix of tech and minimal house to its cult following. This week, regulars of Solid Grooves PAWSA and Dennis Cruz are joined by Hot Since 82, Jaden Thompson, Michael Bibi B2B Seth Troxler, DeWalta, Oden & Fatzo, and Rossko.
Dennis Cruz has been noted as Beatport’s third-best tech house artist and is a pillar of the underground house and tech community. He’s been a key player in the Solid Grooves lineup this summer, playing B2Bs with PAWSA, Michael Bibi, and Nicole Moudaber.
Hot Since 82 was created at an Ibiza afterparty. When the music unexpectedly cut out, Daley Padley plugged his iPhone into the speakers. One of his work-in-progress house tracks played, and the crowd loved it. That work-in-progress, “Let It Ride”, would eventually be released on Noir Music and hit number three on Beatport’s deep house charts.
Jaden Thompson is a rising star in the U.K. house music scene. At a young 20 years old, he snagged a residency at Fabric London. His unofficial remix of Kanye West’s Flashing Lights saw him gain traction in 2020, while his track Closer, received the co-sign of BBC’s Radio 1.
Solid Grooves founder Michael Bibi is a proven tech house master and astute entrepreneur. Joining him on his stage is Seth Troxler. Seth is a fellow industrious musician, and one of electronic music’s most recognizable characters. Their collaborative set will surely get the crowd up on their feet.
DeWalta grew up in picturesque southern Germany. After a few formative decades in jazz and hip-hop, he landed in the hypnotic, minimal blend of house and techno that he’s known for today.
The Parisian trio of Oden & Fatzo is on the road, sharing their erratic brand of house and funk. Their music is a continuous meshing of bright psychedelic funk with minimal house coolness.
DJ PAWSA co-founded Solid Grooves Records alongside Michael Bibi. He’s a proven expert at controlling the crowd and uses his unique tech-house flare to guide them towards total dance delusion. He sits at the top of this week’s Solid Grooves lineup like the dancefloor patriarch he is.
Rossko prioritizes a “heads down, hands up” approach to his live sets. He left his mark on U.K.’s history with his illegal basement party series from the late 2000s. And in his 12 years as a resident at Fuse London, he went from underground legend to mainstage icon.
