Giolí & Assia on Tour: The Hybrid Set, with support by QRTR

After a stunning show at Brooklyn Steel last fall, Italian duo Giolì & Assia are returning to New York for their first rooftop headlining performance at Superior Ingredients. On Sunday, April 16, 2023, the sky above Brooklyn will fill with the sounds of their delicately crafted blend of techno, house, indie, and pop.

In 2022 we couldn’t get enough of Giolì & Assia. Whether it was their explosive live show at Brooklyn Steel or their rousing and intensely powerful ARC Music Festival DJ set. Whenever we ran into them, we were awestruck by how they’ve carved their own space within dance music.

Since they debuted in 2017 with “Stay Closer,” they’ve consistently broken boundaries and redefined what it means to be a dance music artist with a sound dripping in the thumping rhythms of techno, ethereal textures of progressive, and a pop sensibility heightened by introspective, poetic lyricism. Their six-year creative partnership is an extension of their real-life romantic relationship, beautifully reflected in Assia’s gorgeously haunting vocals and Giolì’s expert handling of the piano, handpan, and drums.

Last fall, they released their bold third album Fire Hell and Holy Water, a triumph for their instrument-laden techno sound. Each track carries a timeless quality that reflects the beauty and tenderness of existence in a world rapped by emotional highs and lows. Their unique approach to moving the dancefloor has made them crowd favorites the world over. In the last year alone, they’ve performed at ARC Music Festival, DGTL, CRSSD, and their own Ibiza residency at Cova Santa.

Fresh off the announcement of joining ODESZA on their farewell tour, we have Gray Area favorite, QRTR. The former New Yorker is returning to Brooklyn for a hot minute, and we are excited and honored to welcome the budding superstar to The Roof. Her sound is drenched in emotion, layered with wavering synths that drip with sultry sophistication. Intentionally heartfelt yet innately dancefloor focused, she has managed to stand out with a unique take on house music that's seen her perform at Coachella and play direct support for Fred Again.. and Swedish House Mafia's historic New York popup. Her breakthrough 2021 album infina ad nausea garnered positive reviews from Pitchfork and was remixed by a host of dance music heavyweights, including Justin Martin, Digitalism, and VNSSA.

The Roof at Superior Ingredients is a fitting location for the gorgeously crafted melodics of Giolì & Assia. The riverside venue once played host to Output, one of New York’s most beloved venues. Superior Ingredients carries its legacy forward while creating space for a new story to unfold. Boasting spectacular views of the iconic Manhattan skyline, The Roof’s retractable glass panels and state-of-the-art climate control make it one of the most unique in New York.
