Event Recommendation

Considered one of the most spectacular urban venues in the whole of Europe, Kappa FuturFestival calls home in the north of Italy at a former industrial complex, turned vast city park in the wondrous city of Turin. A festival enriched in interesting history, it was born in December 2009 during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Futurism, a twentieth century Italian art movement gathering more than 7000 people. This led to FuturFestival collaborating in the production of Turin's official New Year’s Eve outdoor party, which presented Groove Armada as a headliner, alongside internationally recognized artists the following year. It was in June 2012 that it evolved into the first Italian daytime summer festival, under the name of Kappa FuturFestival, taking its name from the well-known sports brand, whose president suggested Parco Dora as the perfect location. In 2013 KFF consolidated itself as Italy’s most beloved urban electronic music event, as it entered the Top 5 European Summer Festivals charts. The 2019 edition welcomed over 60k attendees from 102 countries, gaining recognition as the Best International Festival at the DJ Awards. In its latest edition last summer, the festival extended its programme to 3 days, and set a new record with over 80,000 attendees from 105 countries. What will 2023 bring? LOCATION A city steeped in a rich narrative, the Piedmont metropolis boasts beautiful architecture and authentic Italian culture, home to and famous for its cars and cinema. Turin is a place where modern-day meets the leftover luxury from its 18th-Century heyday. The city carries an aspect of youth and vitality, given its numerous locales – from bars to wineries – proliferating in all points, beginning with its center, the grand Piazza Castello. Kappa Futur positions itself within the gates of Turin’s Parco Dora - a park famous for its immense warehouse of ironworks, and complex of steel mills where Fiat produced the raw material for car components. It is the first Italian post-industrial park, where industrial archeology, green areas, art, sport and culture come together to give back to the citizens the spaces of the heavy industry. Only the steel pillars and concrete walls of the other steel mills have been preserved to form a large post-apocalyptic garden. In the background are the cooling towers of the former thermal power plant, where young and international street artists leave their modern-day mark through street art. In front of the Fiat Ironworks there was the Michelin plant, now completely replaced by lawns, trees and cycle lanes. The park also won the International Architecture Award in 2012, and European Garden Award for 2017. It speaks for itself. LINE-UP Returning for 3 consecutive days, the festival kicks off Friday June 30 with a host of top DJ talent. Over 100 acts have been reeled in for this year’s billing including the likes of Peggy Gou, Sasha & Digweed, Seth Troxler, Derrick Carter, Michael Bibi, The Martinez Brothers, Nicole Moudaber, Jamie Jones and more. Day 1 - Friday June 30 includes the likes of Italian techno duo Tale Of Us presenting their much hyped Afterlife stage, plus the long-awaited return of Black Coffee and Major Lazer who last played the festival in 2015. Major Lazer will go B2B with Major League DJz for an unmissable set, plus making their festival debut – supergroup Swedish House Mafia hit the stage with a very special techno set, exclusively for Kappa Futur Festival. Day 2 - Saturday July 1, Detroit legend Carl Craig will perform live, and following a huge set on the main stage last summer, Diplo returns for his only Italian performance of 2023 – to go back-to-back with the one and only Maceo Plex. Plus the iconic Fatboy Slim returns along with many more. For the third and final day, Sunday July 2, another jam-packed schedule awaits, including Solid Groovers Dennis Cruz B2B PAWSA, Chris Liebing LIVE, and a very special appearance from the one and only Carl Cox, who for the first time ever brings his must see Hybrid Live set to Turin. A sight to behold with Carl spinning the tunes DJing and performing tracks from his recent new album – completely live. The 2023 festival will mark their 10th anniversary – an incredible milestone for any festival and testament to how popular Kappa Futur Festival has become. Set to be their most ambitious edition yet with unheard of production levels, and a world-class line-up, it’s no wonder that KFF has managed to sustain its reputation as one of the world’s best music festivals. The one-of-a-kind setting of this epic music festival is like something you’ve never seen before, and can only be experienced here. Gray Area Top Tip: prepare yourself for the peak summer Italian climate. Raving in 40 degree heat means a whole of water and fanning yourself down. It's worth it though.
