Overview

Low Steppa, neé Will Bailey, hits the decks at Quantum Brooklyn on December 17 for a night packed with the sound of classic house music. The UK-born dance music veteran and Defected resident has set dancefloors alight from London to Las Vegas. With ten dates this year in Ibiza alone, his undeniable talent as both a producer and DJ has lifted the spirits of a worldwide contingent of fans, and this rare headlining appearance is one not to be missed.

For nearly two decades, Bailey has been a dancefloor staple. Displaying an imitable ability to morph with the times, remaining relevant (and often groundbreaking) as electronic music has evolved. And while he's influenced the direction of the culture countless times—in several genres, no doubt—his most impactful work has been under the moniker Low Steppa.

His 2013 remix of "My Love" by Route 94 was an inflection point for the artist. Now sitting at over four million streams, it proved Bailey's ability to playfully toy with the classic sound of house music and make it all his own. Shuffling drums and bouncing basslines abound as he established himself as one of house music's most vital and influential voices. Although the remix wasn't an official release, it was so hyped that Route 94 replaced the original in his sets with Bailey's remix.

Almost a decade later, Bailey's influence continues to be potent in house music. His tastemaking label Simma Black has been a launching point for such artists as Martin Ikin and Endor. And Bailey's releases like "Runnin'," "Heard It All Before"—sampling the classic by Sunshine Anderson of the same—his iconic remix of "Deep Inside" by Harddrive, and his recent remix of Duck Sauce's "aNYway" have proved time and time again his unique artistry and faculty for reimagining the spirit of classic house music for the modern dancefloor.

Beyond his celebrated skills as a producer, his DJ sets have been known to galvanize and exhilarate. Behind the decks, Low Steppa is energetic, entertaining, and animated. Whipping dance floors into a frenzy with every selection, he's performed worldwide at the biggest festivals and most infamous clubs. However, his association with Defected Records has brought him the most acclaim. As one of the brand's few true resident artists, he's been a staple of Defected's inclusive events for years. A crowd favorite at parties from Croatia to Ibiza, if you see Low Steppa on a lineup, you know you're in for a treat.
