Mood Child Daytime Party: Manda Moor & Sirus Hood

Overview
Mood Child lands at Refuge on Saturday, March 21st, for a day-into-night session featuring extended sets and a crew built for long-form, focused dance floors. The label, founded by Manda Moor and Sirus Hood, has become a trusted source for stripped-back, loop-based house that works directly on the dance floor. Releases like Homo Sapiens and Peligro have stayed in circulation among selectors who value precision and function in their sets.

Manda Moor, the Danish-Filipino artist guiding the label’s direction, has released on respected imprints like Hot Creations, Kaluki, and Tamango, with a sound rooted in percussion and clean, driving structure. Sirus Hood, her long-time collaborator and co-founder, brings a heavier, low-end-focused sound built from years of touring and residencies at clubs like Sankeys Ibiza, Eden, and Ministry of Sound in London.

Together, they’ve also launched the Mood Edits series on Bandcamp—a limited-run project offering short-window downloads of their exclusive edits. The idea was to step away from constant availability and bring back some of the intention behind digging. It’s been picked up by artists like The Martinez Brothers and Loco Dice, further establishing their place in the circuit.
Also on the bill is Trangaz, a regular in the Mood Child catalog, whose return for this show feels more like a family session than a guest slot. His collaborations with Manda and Sirus have become label highlights, and the three sharing a booth promises something solid.
MISHA, originally from Serbia and now based in Washington DC, adds his own edge to the night. With tracks out on Hottrax, Mood Child, and his label High Class Nasty, and past shows at venues like Echostage, he brings strong experience and spontaneity to the floor. Warming things up is local selector Jayside, setting the tone from the opening hour.
This all unfolds inside Refuge, a new high-definition venue in East Williamsburg equipped with a custom REX analogue sound system and built inside a soaring industrial shell. With its raw layout and emphasis on sound, it’s made for extended sets and tuned-in listening. No frills—just a focused club night with the right team at the controls.
