Activations for Women’s History Month

Femme House, the non-profit organization dedicated to creating equity in music, has announced an extensive lineup of programming for Women’s History Month. The initiatives span SXSW in Austin and Miami Music Week, featuring educational workshops, artist showcases, mentorship opportunities, and community-driven events. A major highlight of this year’s activations is the launch of the inaugural Femmy Awards, set to take place on March 27 at Miami’s Palm Tree Club in partnership with Billboard. The awards will honor influential figures who have significantly contributed to the electronic music industry.

The Femmy Awards: Honoring Dance Music Trailblazers

The inaugural Femmy Awards aim to celebrate industry leaders who have played a pivotal role in advancing representation and equity in electronic music. And guess what...Gray Area is up for a nomination.

Pioneer Award: Recognizing lifetime achievements, this award will honor DJ Lady D, celebrated as Chicago’s House Music Queen, and DJ Minx, a Detroit techno icon and the founder of Women on Wax. Both artists have shaped the industry for decades, paving the way for femme, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ artists.

Voice of House Award: This category honors vocalists who have defined generations of dance music. The inaugural recipients are Barbara Tucker and Crystal Waters, two legendary figures whose voices have become synonymous with house music.

Producer of the Year: Sara Landry receives this distinction for her outstanding contributions to electronic music production and sound design. Her work continues to influence and inspire emerging producers globally.

All proceeds from the Femmy Awards will directly support Femme House's initiatives, ensuring the continuation of their educational programs and community efforts.
