Doubleheader with Angelos & Pablo Fierro
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
On Saturday, March 18, our Doubleheader concept returns to Superior Ingredients in Brooklyn. This time we're bringing out two kingpins of Afro house—a sound that is taking over the world—Black Coffee collaborator Angelos and multi-hyphenate artist impresario Pablo Fierro. This Doubleheader opens up space for both of these dynamic and daring artists to create unique vibes individually through solo sets. Then as the sunset paints the sky in a technicolor array, they will combine forces for a memorable B2B session.
Greek-born Angelos discovered dance music at his uncle's discotech in Greece when he was just five years old. By his teens, he was a vinyl-obsessed selector with a dream of earning a living as a DJ. In 2009 he debuted at the Athens clubbing institution, Mamacas leading to a four-year residency. The same year, his Global Fantasy party brand was one of the first to book Black Coffee outside South Africa. The indelible connection they formed eventually led to the 2021 collaboration "Lost," the lead single on Black Coffee's start-studded Grammy award-winning album Subconsciously.
The rich multicultural heritage of Pablo Fierro's Canary Islands home rings through every note and syncopated rhythm of his music. The multi-talented producer, DJ, composer, and instrumentalist stands tall as one of Afro house's leading artists, sitting comfortably atop Beatport's Afro house charts as the site's number two best-selling artist. Tracks like his exhilarating edit of "Baianá" by Barbatuques and his remix of "Masala" by Floyd Lavine prove his ability to accentuate the unifying ties between dance and global sounds.
Both artists have long been cross-cultural ambassadors. They dig for sounds that cross borders—combining the sunny and tropical, passionate and tribal, and thumping and electric sounds of Africa, Latin America, and beyond in a unifying sound that speaks to the global dancefloor.
The Roof of Superior Ingredients is the perfect locale for a day of deep and soulful beats. Located high above Brooklyn, the glass-enclosed, climate-controlled rooftop makes day party's a year-round affair. And the spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline make for some of the most fantastic sunset views in all of New York.
This Doubleheader confirms the Gray Area goal of building a bolder and more vibrant club ecosystem and exposing our community to the most exciting and ground-breaking talent. Don't miss the opportunity to catch these two titans of the dancefloor create a beautiful synergy.
Joining Pablo and Angelos to set the vibe is New York Dj and producer Carlos Dacosta. A veteran of the New York scene, he came up in the storied late 90's era and was inspired by the likes of Louie Vega, Danny Tenaglia, Adam X, and Frankie Bones. His slant towards the soulful side of dance music sees him producing and playing a mix of deep and Afro house, the perfect way to set the vibe for this Doubleheader. He's long been a regular in NYC clubs and is no stranger to Superior Ingredients, as he was a regular on its stage of the former moniker, Output.
