Expansions
Chicago, Illinois
Overview
House and techno fans, Chicago is the place to be this weekend. Auris Presents—the minds behind ARC Music Festival—are curating two incredible nights of music in Chi towns premiere large-scale indoor venue, Radius. Both rooms of the massive, cutting-edge venue will light up with the sounds of today’s most celebrated house and techno artists. We can’t remember a time when a lineup this large has been gathered inside a venue of this scale in the city the house built.
In addition, we’ve got the lock on exclusive friends and family deal just for our Gray Area community members, making it an easy choice in deciding where you should be this weekend. Click on the button above for a special one-day ticket price of $19.99.
Expansions Friends & Family DiscountFriday night in the main room brings UK duo Camelphat in the headlining slot, whose 2020 album Dark Matter holds some of the biggest dance floor cuts of the last half-decade, including “Panic Room,” “For A Feeling,” and “Breathe.”
Saved Records founder, Ibiza mainstay, and Grammy-Award nominee Nic Fanciulli will throw down his spicy blend of sultry house and techno. Equal parts soulful and funky, Berlin-based duo Mat.Joe are fresh off the release of “Estelle(American Boy)” and a slew of shows across the country; this is their only Chicago appearance.
In Cermack Hall, Sweden’s reigning queen of techno will hold court alongside a star-studded cast of stalwart DJs. If anything, it will be hard to choose between which room to stay in all weekend.
Italian artist Ilario Alicante is seen as one of the foremost innovators and curators in techno. Through his label Virgo and releases on labels like Drumcode, he pushes a sound rooted in his days as a clubber. He never truly left the dancefloor.
Anja Schneider’s career as a broadcaster, label founder, and touring DJ has given her the chance to open the ears of the world to new talent. Her mix of soulful and deep underground house and techno was an early platform for the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Solomun, and Nicole Moudaber.
Saturday brings an even more intense lineup of iconic names. Headlining the main room are Afterlife’s innovative leaders, Tale of Us, who are known for their immersive audiovisual experiences that plunge the dance floor into a world of swirling synths, walloping drumlines, and mind-warping visuals.
German duo Âme will be stepping away from the CDJs to enliven the dancefloor with a live set. While Afterlife favorite, Kevin de Vries, will brilliantly infuse techno’s weight and warehouse rumbling vibes with the emotional depth of trance in a way few can match.
Saturday’s lineup only gets more incredible in Cermack Hall. Headed up by a hotly-anticipated b2b set from two of dance music’s biggest champions of the underground, Seth Troxler and Tiga. And Chicago legend and architect of house music culture DJ Pierre will undoubtedly give a lesson on how to properly rock a dancefloor.
Radius Chicago's Main Room
Rounding out the lineup is an incredible and diverse array of Chicago’s homegrown talent, including Amy Unland, Blu 9, Azzecca, Hiroko Yamamura, and Justin Cudmore. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t arrive early and stay late.
At ARC in 2021, the Expansions stage was home to some of the most iconic sets of the weekend. And Auris has spun the concept into an entire weekend of some of the most sought-after underground music in the world. So if you’re in Chicago, there’s only one place to be this weekend, and if you aren’t, make plans to be so you don’t have a severe case of house and techno FOMO come Monday morning.
