Overview

We’re bringing back Femme House for another party on the Roof of Superior Ingredients on June 28th! FEMME HOUSE is a transformative educational nonprofit organization founded in 2019 by LP Giobbi and Lauren "HerMixALot" Spaulding. It is dedicated to increasing the number of women and gender-expansive individuals working in music production, songwriting, engineering, and various other industry roles. By creating opportunities and providing essential resources, FEMME HOUSE aims to empower marginalized communities within the music industry.

We're thrilled to welcome Canadian-born DJ and producer, Heidy P to the Gray Area decks. Heidy's career highlights include hosting BBC Radio 1's and launching the Jackathon events, which featured industry giants like Richie Hawtin, Soul Clap, and Solomun. She has performed at major festivals like Exit, Global Gathering, and Detroit's Movement, and held residencies at top clubs like Fabric in London and Watergate in Berlin.

Joining Heidy for an epic b2b is North Philly-born HVNLEE, a familiar face to both the Gray Area and FEMME HOUSE families. Her career took an exciting turn at the FEMME HOUSE stage at Hulaween Music Festival.

More names to look forward to are Baby Weight and MZ Worthy. Baby Weight hails from DC and has earned national recognition with endorsements from house acts like Walker & Royce and Shiba San.

MZ Worthy, based in San Francisco, is a co-founder of the influential Dirtybird label and has been a driving force behind the nu-school West Coast house sound.

Another empowering woman and Gray Area resident, Daniela Luzi Tudor, known as Luzi Tudor, will join us. A rising star in melodic house and techno, Luzi has built a career in dance music while excelling in the tech world, co-founding WEconnect Health Management, and earning attention from Lane 8's This Never Happened imprint.

Also joining us are NYC’s own Branqueeno, who has played with names like J.Worra and Nala, and Brooklyn-based DJ Rose Kourts, known for her buoyant energy and epic sets on Lot Radio and the Brooklyn Mirage.

FEMME HOUSE’s mission is anchored in several key initiatives designed to break down barriers and foster inclusivity. One of its primary focuses is on educational programs. The organization offers a variety of workshops, online courses, and professional development opportunities focused on music production and DJing. These programs are not only accessible and affordable but are also supplemented by scholarships specifically targeted towards BIPOC artists. The goal is to equip underrepresented individuals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the music industry.

To amplify its impact, FEMME HOUSE collaborates with major industry players such as Insomniac, Ableton, Spotify, and Moog. These partnerships facilitate stage takeovers at major festivals, compilation albums featuring diverse artists, and support for educational tours. By leveraging these collaborations, FEMME HOUSE creates more visibility and opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Building a supportive and inclusive community is at the heart of FEMME HOUSE’s mission. The organization hosts events, provides networking opportunities, and creates platforms for marginalized voices. This community-centric approach helps foster a sense of belonging and mutual support among participants.

FEMME HOUSE actively works to raise awareness about the significant gender disparity in the music industry. Through its advocacy efforts, the organization seeks to drive systemic changes that make the industry more inclusive and equitable for all.

FEMME HOUSE has spearheaded numerous impactful activities and events. The 12-city FEMME HOUSE Takeover Tour is a groundbreaking initiative that combines music performances with educational workshops. The tour aims to address the stark statistic that only 2% of music producers are female by providing education and showcasing talent in an inclusive environment.

LP Giobbi hosts “FEMME HOUSE Radio” on SiriusXM, where she features interviews and music by non-male DJs and producers. This platform helps amplify the voices of marginalized artists and brings their work to a broader audience. In collaboration with Insomniac Records, FEMME HOUSE has released compilation albums that feature female and gender-expansive artists. These albums not only provide a platform for these artists but also help to normalize their presence in the industry.

Through scholarships, mentorship programs, and other resources, FEMME HOUSE supports marginalized individuals in building successful careers in music production and related fields. This support network is crucial for helping these artists navigate and thrive in an industry that has historically excluded them.

Through its innovative programs and steadfast dedication, FEMME HOUSE is pioneering a movement towards greater equity and representation in the music industry. As it grows, its impact will undoubtedly shape the future of music production. Superior Ingredients is a vibrant 20,000-square-foot venue at 74 Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Overlooking the East River and the Manhattan skyline, it quickly made a cultural impact on New York’s nightlife scene since its opening in summer 2021. Hosting a FEMME HOUSE party on the rooftop of Superior Ingredients would perfectly embody their mission, celebrating inclusive and empowering music against a spectacular backdrop.
