Overview
Get ready to immerse yourself in HOZHO’s one-of-a-kind Melodark genre as he brings his renowned blend of serene melodies and dark, somber synths to Musica on December 21st, 2024.
Hailing from Portugal, HOZHO, also known as Joel Monteiro, has been a pioneer of Melodark since 2015. What began as a personal expression has since evolved into an artistic movement, resonating with fans worldwide. For HOZHO, Melodark isn’t just a sound—it’s a way of life. His music, steeped in emotional depth and motivational storytelling, invites listeners on an unforgettable journey through his specially crafted sonic world.
HOZHO has performed at renowned festivals like Mystic Garden Festival, Baum Festival, Seismic Dance Event, and Carl Cox's Fabrik 20 party, earning international recognition for his exceptional sound and remarkable stage presence.
HOZHO’s unique style draws inspiration from classical composers like Hans Zimmer and Ludovico Einaudi, blending these influences with the raw energy of breakbeat rhythms. His meticulous attention to detail is showcased in tracks that often stretch beyond seven minutes, offering listeners a narrative-driven experience. Honey Trap, which has garnered over 14 million views on YouTube, exemplifies his ability to merge serene melodies with dark, driving basslines. Unlike many artists who rely on repetitive beats, HOZHO molds each track as a standalone story, producing music that is immersive and thought-provoking.
One of the highlights of his discography is his LP Yin Yang, which integrates techno, progressive, and orchestral elements, inviting listeners to explore his intricate soundscapes in full depth.
Direct support for HOZHO comes from LA-based DJ and producer Tara Brooks, known for her dynamic sets at BPM, EDC Las Vegas, Coachella, Desert Hearts, and Rakastella, as well as at Burning Man camps like Robot Heart and Carl Cox’s Playground. Rooted in LA’s underground, Tara’s discography includes releases on Bedrock, Global Underground, Katermukke, and Desert Hearts Records, each track showcasing her boundless creativity and evolving style.
Closing out the night is Miami’s own Nuran, whose original music has earned the support of Adriatique, Oliver Koletzki, Township Rebellion, Eelke Kleijn, Maceo Plex, and Blondish. Recently, Nuran has performed alongside Josh Butler, Bontan, Toni Varga, Yousef, Fideles, and Miss Monique.
On Musica’s second stage, local acts Brando, Vee, Soundpilot, and Medina will keep the energy alive. Known for her powerful sets, Medina has supported icons like Lilly Palmer, Nakadia, and Chris Avantgarde, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of music.
