The world of dance music is filled with contributors of all ages and backgrounds. The scene would not be where it is today without the years of trial, error, and trail blazing done by its stalwart seniors. However, the energy and forward thinking plays its own important role with fresh perspectives and invigorated energy for performance and discovery. One younger talent in particular has had a notable impact in recent years—Jaden Thompson.

The UK young gun has wasted no time making his mark on dance music. A regular favorite of Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1, he’s been backed by the likes of The Martinez Brothers and Damian Lazarus and even started his own label, Midnight Parade. The label serves as a launchpad for Thompson’s revitalized, Chicago-tinted brand of house music, including one of his latest tunes, “Shimmer.”

This track is brimming with attitude and energy that demands to be seen, heard, and felt. The buoyant bass line proves infectious and unstoppable while the synth accents do in fact shimmer in a technicolor whirlwind that is as pleasant has the new spring’s breeze. And is that my heart pounding or the kick drum? Either way I’m so here for it. This cheeky groover is nothing but pure unadulterated vibes from bottom to top. Careful—press play and you will undoubtedly begin strutting your stuff.

“Shimmer” serves as the B-side to Jaden Thompson’s latest EP, Memories. This latest release is aimed straight at the dance floor, a noted difference from the anthemic vocal cuts that launched the label in 2021. Expect to see more club focused tunes from Thompson as summer and festival seasons approach—news just broke that he will be joining The Martinez Brothers and Skepta at HÏ Ibiza along with a host of other phenomenal artists. You know where to find us on Tuesday nights this summer
