Born and raised in Chicago, Lee Foss is no stranger to house music. The DJ/producer spent the majority of the 90’s—and his formative years—in the city’s clubs, falling more and more in love with the genre each night. But though he began trying his hand at production early on, it wasn’t until his first time on Ibiza in 2001 that he started to truly build the foundation for his now enviable career.
During this trip, a chance meeting with Jamie Jones—and the friendship that ensued—precipitated a creative partnership that skyrocketed both men to international fame. In 2009, the pair formed Hot Natured, and later minted the label imprint Hot Creations, which houses not only many of Foss and Jones’ releases, but also those of Richy Ahmed, Danny Daze, and more.
Now, though Foss’s career remains intertwined with that of Jones, he’s made a name for himself as a solo artist, too. He’s quickly become a regular act at raves, festivals, and concerts hosted by event production powerhouse Insomniac Events. And, as of late, the Los Angeles and London-based DJ/producer has also graced the cover of DJ Mag España as the publication’s July 2022 cover star—and is in the midst of his very first Ibiza residency at Eden with Repopulate Mars, another of his highly successful label imprints.
With a sound that is perfect for the club, Foss appeals to both casual partiers and hardcore house-heads alike. He’s known for his sampled reimagining of pop classics like The Black-Eyed Peas’ “My Humps” and Ciara’s “1, 2 Step.” This, in combination with his dance-able beats, makes his frequent appearances—and all but guaranteed continued presence—at festivals like EDC Las Vegas, Spring Awakening, and Beyond Wonderland no surprise.
