Music On was created by Italian DJ and producer Marco Carola, founder of the identically named label. The inaugural event took place in 2017 and has been occurring annually since, consistently selling out. Held in Amsterdam, a city known for its active dance music scene, Music On presents a pint-sized powerhouse of a lineup year after year. Only a couple dozen artists end up on the carefully curated bill each year, but the picks are always exceptional. The lineup ranges from local talent and up-and-coming names to underground legends and mainstream mainstays across techno, house, and beyond.
By day, Music On Festival claims a spacious outdoor event area; past events took place at Havenpark, while this year’s event occurs at Meerpark, a lush outdoor space in the eastern part of Amsterdam. As the day wraps up, the energy is transferred to a “by night” after-party at the Hemkade 48 event complex, an old industrial factory hall on the North Sea Canal. This year’s By Night Saturday after-party sold out fast, prompting the addition of a Sunday late-night celebration.
