5 Spencer Brown Tracks You Should Know
American progressive house producer Spencer Brown is no stranger to making a great single. The smashing success of his debut LP Illusion of Perfection and its successor, Stream of Consciousness, showcased his ability to craft a completely pre-mixed, dance floor-ready journey for his fans. And through high-profile collaborations with Above & Beyond, deadmau5, and Gryffin, his signature progressive house sound has reached a worldwide audience.
Spencer Brown tracks have earned support from some of the biggest international acts in dance music, including Calvin Harris, Armin van Buuren, Avicii, Sasha, FISHER, and others. If you’re new to this Anjunabeats darling or you’re looking for a few deep cuts, check out some of our favorite tracks below.
1. Spencer Brown & Ben Böhmer - Phases
This 2020 collaborative single was released with fellow Anjuna artist Ben Böhmer. In “Phases,” Spencer mixes notes of steel drums and handpans to create a soothing, tropical feel. The track eventually expands into a joyous tribal drop and big drum breakdowns.
2. deadmau5 & Kaskade - Escape ft. Hayla (Spencer Brown Remix)
Earlier this year, progressive house icons deadmau5 and Kaskade officially banded together to form the supergroup Kx5. When it came time to remix their slow-burning number one hit “Escape,” Spencer Brown was the first artist they enlisted. Spencer was able to take the most-played song on U.S. dance radio in 2022 and give it a stripped-down, brooding techno feel.
3. Spencer Brown - Will I Ever Find Love
This track appears on Spencer’s first full-length album, Illusion of Perfect. Released in 2018, the album reached number one on the iTunes Dance Chart. As a premixed album, it’s almost a shame to pick one track out from the rest, but “Will I Ever Find Love” is a joyous galavant through sawtooth synths and happy harps.
4. Above & Beyond - Sun in Your Eyes - (Spencer Brown Edit)
As one of the most celebrated artists on the U.K. trance label Anjunabeats, Spencer has done quite a few mixes for the imprint’s founders, Above & Beyond. On his edit for “Sun in Your Eyes,” he shines with simple, shimmering synths and flickering piano flourishes. The track appeared on the 10 Years of Group Therapy compilation in 2021.
5. Seven Lions & Jason Ross - Higher Love ft. Paul Meany (Spencer Brown Remix)
This 2017 remix of the popular track from Seven Lions and Jason Ross quickly became a staple in the world of trance radio shows. Paul Meany’s euphoric vocals progressively build before Spencer drops them out, leaving listeners with a slamming, fist-pumping, four-on-the-floor beat. It’s a simple formula, but Spencer’s impeccable ear takes it from good to great.
