Debut: Space 92 w. Shay De Castro & Guests
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
eIn just over three years, French cosmic techno producer Space 92 has dominated the scene with a seemingly endless string of grinding, synth-laden galactic beats. On November 5th, Gray Area welcomes the celebrated artist to blast the dance floor into the stratosphere for his New York headline debut on The Roof of Superior Ingredients.
Born Mathieu Mourareau, Space 92 achieved unprecedented universal appeal in 2020 on the back of Beatport chart-topping hits like his remix of Twins Project “Bass In Your Face” and his collaboration with Yellow Heads, “Planet X.” His unique ability to fluidly bridge the gap between soaring trance-inspired melodics and warehouse-rattling rhythms earned him the title of top-selling techno act of the year on Beatport in 2020, only twelve months after launching the project.
His brilliantly crafted yet beautifully sophisticated techno spurred widespread acclaim. Beyond his blistering output of incredible original work across labels like Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth On Acid, Codex, and UMEK’s 1605, he’s collaborated with the genre’s most sought-after talents, including HI-LO for 2022’s “Mercury,” UMEK and Popof for “Control,” and remixing for Eats Everything.
Rising to fame during the pandemic meant by the time the world opened up, Space 92 was in-demand. He’s now become a staple on the global club and festival circuit. He’s dropped his patented trancey techno at legendary venues like Berlin’s Kit Kat Club, Tokyo’s Womb, and Egg London. On stage, he brings together years of experience DJing under his former moniker Matt Minimal and the unbridled energy of his Space 92 catalog for a boisterous mind-bending performance.
Directly supporting Space 92 will be Sam WOLFE. Since his debut in 2020, Sam has achieved numerous milestones, including reaching the #1 spot on Beatport's overall releases chart and garnering support from industry legends such as UMEK, Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber, Wehbba, T78, Oliver Heldens, Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, and many more. With over 32 headline performances across cities in North America and Europe, Sam has shared the stage with renowned artists like Charlotte De Witte, Enrico Sangiuliano, Deborah De Luca, Boris Brejcha, K's 1605.
Performing alongside Space 92 for a close out set will be techno sensation Shay De Castro who performed with us earlier this year on The Roof and has continued touring across the States like her set at San Diego's newest Nova Nightclub for Factory93 with Eli Brown, all the way to Europe featuring a set at Praerie Festival following her Germany debut summer tour.
In only three years, Crossbow has had numerous releases on impressive labels like Codex, Set About, and IAMT, while a plethora of notable producers around the globe, including Spartaque, Metodi Hristov, and Roberto Capuano, are supporting her tracks during their sets. Crossbow is an in-demand DJ around NYC sharing bills with legends like Ben Klock, Juliet Fox, Sam Wolfe, and Eli Brown, in addition to landing radio slots on respected stations like Radio Intense and DJanes.net. The next phase of Cross’s career includes international bills and adding even more genre-defining labels to her catalog.
Kicking off the night is Saint Velez, a rising techno artist, originating from the bustling streets of Brooklyn, New York. His style uniquely combines raw, vibrant rhythms with avant-garde production techniques, securing him a rapidly growing reputation in the underground techno world. Fueled by the heartbeat of his city, Saint Velez's tracks resonate with an urban energy that is both deeply personal and universally relatable. His music showcases incredible versatility, spanning from entrancing deep grooves to pulsating, prime-time anthems.
Joining as a special guest, LA-based Shay De Castro, who has released tracks on Factory 93, Kraftek, and other notable labels, is no stranger to Gray Area’s dance floors, having delivered a memorable performance with us on The Roof earlier this year with Lilly Palmer. From Adam Beyer at Tomorrowland and ANNA at Exit Festival to Pleasurekraft on Drumcode Radio and Amelie Lens in The Tunnel, her techno spice has penetrated the ears and minds of countless listeners around the globe. Check out her LA Warehouse set that makes you want to RUN to the next techno party and dress in all black!
