House music's dynamic duo, Walker & Royce is comprised of the talented Sam Walker and Gavin Royce. Their story began in 2011 when these two individuals crossed paths within the dance scene for years, decided to join forces and create something extraordinary.
Their initial breakthrough came when Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus discovered one of their earliest releases, the remix of SAARID's "Future Lately." This recognition led to the release of their debut EP You're Not Welcome under the revered Crosstown Rebels label, thrusting Walker & Royce into the dance music spotlight. Simultaneously, their infectious track "Connected" on OFF Recordings gained immense popularity, with the legendary Solomun incorporating it into his performances, setting the stage for their diverse sonic repertoire.
The duo's talent and creativity continued to soar with each subsequent release. Pete Tong, a renowned figure in the electronic music world, handpicked their EP Sister on Moda Black as his Essential New Tune, solidifying their status as rising stars. Furthermore, their chart-topping remix of Baunz's "Out the Window" on Tong's recordings received widespread support from some of the biggest names in the industry.
Notably, Walker & Royce have collaborated with esteemed artists such as Claude Vonstroke, Ardalan, Chris Lake, and VNSSA, showcasing their ability to seamlessly merge their distinct style with fellow visionaries. Their remixes of Channel Tres, LP Giobbi, The Knocks, Justin Jay, Gorgon City, and Mindchatter have garnered significant acclaim, further amplifying their reputation as tastemakers.
Their music found a home on respected record labels, including Dirtybird Records, Relief Records, and Higher Ground. Their debut album Self Help, released on Dirtybird, showcased their evolution and featured collaborations with notable vocalists such as Green Velvet, Dances With White Girls, and Sophiegrophy, resulting in an immersive, house-party atmosphere.
Beyond their studio prowess, Walker & Royce have graced numerous festivals and stages, captivating audiences around the globe. Support from Sasha to Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex to Gorgon City, Eats Everything and Loco Dice displays their music resonates with DJs and fans alike, transcending genre boundaries and leaving an indelible mark.
In 2022, the duo launched their very own record label, Rules Don't Apply Records, embracing a philosophy that encapsulates their commitment to unrestrained creativity and exceptional music.
