Shermanology with Dalton Taylor & James Juke
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
Brother-sister duo Shermanology, neé Andy and Dorothy Sherman have a sound defined by a rich musical and cultural background woven into every note of their soulful grooves. We've been fortunate enough to host them a handful of times including at elrow Summer Festival 2022 and their New York Headline Debut last fall. Each time we've been blown away by their uniquely crafted brand of soulful tech house delicately infused with their Dutch-Caribbean roots. The sound is the sum of a lifetime of passion for musical expression. So we're excited to bring Dorothy and Andy back to Brooklyn for a late night set on April 22.
Shermanology cooks up a creative blend of cultures, significantly inspired by 70s R&B courtesy of family act, the Sherman Brothers. Carrying on the musical traditions of their relatives, Dorothy is the epitome of a modern soul and gospel songstress with her signature vocals and Andy's experience in producing and as an MC emerged via the UK garage and underground Dutch scenes.
In the last year, their star has skyrocketed off the back of a monumental string of releases. Their collaboration with Fisher, "It's A Killa," wonderfully found the sweet spot between the main room sensibilities of the Aussie star and the sultry soul and funky swag of Dorothy and Andy. While that spent a month in the Beatport top 10 (and racked up 30M streams), they kept landing home runs all year. They scored massive remixes for Busta Rhymes and Bassment Jaxx, a heavily supported collab with Eats Everything, "Tell You What It Is," and dropped genre-breaking originals on labels like Armada, elrow, and their newly formed D'EAUPE imprint.
Somehow, between all the time they spent in studios crafting soulful and scintillating tech house, they managed to level up as performers, successfully taking their sound to clubs and festivals around the world.
Watching the duo command the stage as the sun set over the Brooklyn Mirage for elrow Summer Festival was one of our most memorable moments with Shermanology, and they spent the year making similar peak dancefloor memories with dancers across the globe from Ibiza to Amsterdam, Miami to Vegas.
Dorothy and Andy have an unmistakable it factor. It's something they've spent a near lifetime honing and nurturing. Their recent Essential Mix is evidence of their decade of cultivating such a uniquely curated sound that spans UK garage, soul, R&B, house, and world music. Shermanology is a singular act.
To support the sultry soul of Shermanology, we've invited New York clubland staple, Dalton Taylor. Recently signed to Will Clark's All We Have Is Now imprint, Taylor fuses the sounds of classic dance with new school sensibilities.
We're also excited to welcome James Juke for his Gray Area debut. The bi-coastal artist has quickly found his footing in house music. He's been playlisted by the incomparable Defected Records, Supported by Dombresky and Chanel Tres, and released jackin' funky records with Kitsune and Brobot.
